Genre/Influences: IDM, tribal, experimental.

Format: Digital.

Background/Info: Ant-Zen here welcomes a brand-new project set up by two old friends. ‘Cyruption’ and ‘Tom Techno’ both are audio engineers and finally decided to create their own sound. “Kek:et” is an EP featuring four songs.

Content: There’s an impressive canvas of influences running through this work. The rhythm has something tribal-like, but globally speaking the electronic sound treatments are closer to IDM and glitch. As a contradiction, the last cut has something groovy-like running through it. The tracks have been progressively built up, being all rather long, but never annoying.

+ + + : Ant-Zen has a nose for new, talented –and this time also, visionary artists. This EP is a fully achieved production revealing great sound treatments and a meticulous fusion between different elements. The music of Kek:et sounds as a chemical offspring between different elements. If this is just a beginning I’m really wondering how the next releases will sound-like. I like the somewhat tribal touch mixed with a mysterious and deep, vibrating didgeridoo-sound on the opening cut “Karvan Bashi”. But I also have to mention the last cut “Raheim” for its surprising groovy-approach.

– – – : When I hear such a great production I’m even more hating the digital era! Such a work simply deserves to be released as a physical copy so you’ll be sure it will become eternal…

Conclusion: Kek:et is a promising newcomer for all lovers of intelligent electronics! This is an EP worthy of examination and a duo we’ll have to keep in mind.

Best songs: “Raheim”, “Karvan Bashi”, “Cheperer”.

Rate: (8).
