“Urge” is the second album by the Greek duo Myrto Stylou (vocals & synths) and Nikos Konstantinidis (synths & programming). Four years after their debut, the duo returns under the renowned Cold Transmission Music label, promising to amplify their reach and impact. Kalte Nacht delivers a Minimal/Electro-Wave sound enveloped in cold, resonant strings and Myrto’s expressive, icy vocals, which at times evoke comparisons to the legendary Kas Product. While the album doesn’t break new ground stylistically, “Urge” stands out for its high-quality production, characterized by a ghostly, tormented atmosphere. It features several standout tracks that underscore the duo’s mastery of their craft. (Rating:8).

The Athens/Greece-based dark synth duo Kalte Nacht reveals a first single, “The Last Breath”, off their new album “U R G E” to be be released in late Spring 2024 on Cold Transmission Music. The single comes accompanied by a video. “U R G E” comes four years after their self-titled debut album.

The accompanying video for “The Last Breath” is set in a not-so-distant dystopian future, where Kalte Nacht act as climate warriors, representing the few remaining human beings left alive. The music video’s backdrop is a city ravaged by continuous natural disasters, where a digital high surveillance authoritarian regime has taken control.

Kalte Nacht started as a solo project back in 2017 from Nikos K. and very soon shaped into a duο with Myrto Stylou on vocals.

This track features on the “Zeitgeist Chrome Vol. 2” compilation, brought to you by the German label, Cold Transmission Music. This collection also showcases the talents from the dark electro and coldwave labelmates Years of Denial, SYZYGYX, Kalte Nacht, and Noromakina.

For the first time, all songs on this compilation are available on vinyl, with some tracks making their debut release. Notably, the compilation enriches its roster with non-label artists Teatre & Years Of Denial and Permament Daylight. Fans can look forward to the full digital release of the compilation on March 29th, while the limited edition vinyl (250 copies) is now open for pre-orders.

Necrø emerges as the newest venture by João Vairinhos, a seasoned musician known for his solo work and collaborations with notable artists such as Hélio Morais (Linda Martini), Ricardo Remédio (LÖBO, RA), and bands like Wildnorthe and LÖBO. For Necrø, Vairinhos has joined forces with Sara English, a collaboration extending from their work together in Wildnorthe.

The Greek darkwave and post-punk music lovers are in for a treat as the Death Disco Athens Open Air Festival 2023 announces its line-up. Set to take place at the Technopolis City of Athens on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23, the two-day event will showcase 14 bands across two stages.

The festival opens on Saturday, July 22, with a diverse roster of acts, including VNV Nation, The Soft Moon, Selofan, Rue Oberkampf, Ploho, Kalte Nacht, and Youth Valley. On Sunday, July 23, the event continues with headliners The Sisters of Mercy, followed by performances from She Past Away, ACTORS, Absolute Body Control, Mecano Un-Ltd., Mechanimal, and Data Fragments.

Located at 100 Piraeus Street, the Technopolis City of Athens is easily accessible by metro, trolley, and bus. To reach the venue, festival-goers can take the Blue Line (Line 3) to the Kerameikos station, trolley No. 21 from Omonoia station to Fotaerio Stop, or any of the following bus lines: No. 049, 815, 838, 914, Β18, and Γ18.
