The Belgian industrial act Super Dragon Punch!! has landed its debut album: “Feral”. The debut full length holds twelve tracks of techno-infused body music inspired by retro 80s video game soundtracks. It continues the sonic path chosen with the band’s debut EP which was released in 2017 and held remixes by Assemblage23, Terrolokaust, Iszoloscope & WO††W.

“Feral” was mixed and mastered by Hocico and Dulce Liquido mastermind Racso Agroyam at Liquido Labs. Racso also added some additional punch to the creations while “Frame” has been mixed by Krischan Wesenberg at Studio-600.

Super Dragon Punch!! is the synthpunk/EBM/industrial project of frontman Jérémie Venganza. Live the band consists of Jérémie Venganza, Sem Roosen on bass and Noémi Meteors on synths.

Background/Info: Canadian artist Yann Faussurier has achieved the eight album of his Iszoloscope project.

Content: Seventeen years after his debut work Iszoloscope has seriously involved in style. This new opus reveals a very eclectic composition, which is still driven by impressive dark atmospheres, but still touching ground with other sources of inspiration. The tracks are driven by solid beats and sometimes moving into breakcore experiments. You also will hear intriguing and somewhat ritual chants passages.

+ + + : The opening cuts of this work reveal a modern and powerful industrial sound approach. The tempo is fast and the kicks are murderous. It creates a heavy and violent sensation, which is reinforced by impressive sound blasts, reminding us that Yann Faussurier is a talented producer when it comes to create single sound treatments. The work has been supported by great atmospheric sounds, which always has been one of this project’s trademarks. The title track and “Spirit Intrusion”, both are absolute attention grabbers.

– – – : The album features 8 tracks and especially the few last songs can’t convince me a similar way. These cuts feel a bit like Iszoloscope started to experiment with very different ideas, like a bit losing the focus emerging from the great debut tracks.

Conclusion: Iszoloscope strikes back with an opus featuring a few outstanding cuts, but still revealing a final part without real climax. “All Is Immensity And Chaos” however is an album I highly recommend.

Best songs: “Spirit Intrusion”, “All Is Immensity And Chaos”, “Stretched Into The Thereafter”.

“Furious Basslines” is the title of the brand new album by Mexico’s dark electro act Circuito Cerrado, the band’s 3rd so far. The new album comes 2 years after the heavy industrial “Arrhythmia” and a few weeks after the download EP “Revolution”.

For this album Marrko B. (mastermind of dark elektro fame C-Lekktor) and his partner in crime Psyklon again mix modern techno beats and industrial distorted noise.

The album also comes out as a limited double-CD edition (available here) with 11 exclusive bonus tracks including collaborations and featuring artists such as Rexx Arkana, Iszoloscope, Noiz+Zilenth,Tanzkrieg, etc.. Next to this, you can of course pre-order the normal CD version as well next to the bonus tracks download version from Bandcamp.

Infest is the UK’s premier festival of alternative electronic music. This year the 20th edition takes place from 23-26 August with an amazing line-up featuring: Empirion, Peter Hook & The Light, Zeitgeist Zero, Grave Diggers Union, Cubanate, Iszoloscope, Siva Six, Def Neon, SΛRIN, Mesh, Liebknecht, ACTORS, YURA YURA, Adam Is A Girl, Flesh Eating Foundation, Aesthetic Perfection, This Morn’ Omina, Strvngers, Elegant Machinery, VaLHaLL, Massenhysterie and Promenade Cinema.

The venue is the University of Bradford Students’ Union, in the City of Bradford (near Leeds), West Yorkshire, UK. Besides concerts there are also afterparties featuring renowned DJ’s from all over the world.

Genre/Influences: Cyber-punk, punk-pop.

Background/Info: Super Dragon Punch!! Is a Belgian project set up and driven by Jérémie Venganza. This artist is already busy with music for numerous years and has been previously involved with RANkOR. “Shatter” is the official debut of Super Dragon Punch!! who claims to be inspired by ‘retro gaming and 80s synths’.

Content: This EP features 4 songs and 4 remixes. The sound is raw and somewhat polished during the choruses. The composition is a weird, but efficient electronic punk-pop fusion. I also noticed some technoid arrangements. The vocals match the punk-pop approach.

Remixes were made by Assemblage 23, Terrolokaust, Iszoloscope and WoTTw. Notice by the way Venganza didn’t spare any effort to bring his work to a higher level, asking Krischan Wesenberg to mix and master the songs.

+ + + : Even if I already heard a lot of good reactions about Super Dragon Punch!! I was really wondering how this EP would sound. I discovered a well-crafted and elaborated composition, which is for sure danceable, but especially dealing with an interesting symbiosis between pop and punk. It’s not that easy to really seize and define the sound of this band, but it definitely is an interesting approach. Super Dragon Punch!! is not a copyist and avoids reinventing old-standards such as future-pop. The remixes have been made by an interesting selection of artists dealing with very different electronic formats. I especially recommend the Assemblage 23 remix of “Inspire”, which is more efficient than the original version. Terrolokaust did a great job as well. The remixes are quite club orientated and that’s what we might expect from an EP. Last, but not least I also want to say a word about the digipak format revealing the ambition of this artist.

– – – : This EP serves as a solid basis to go on with. I think there are some elements of the composition (like melody lines) which can be more elaborated while the production of the vocals can be better as well. But globally speaking this is an interesting debut!

Conclusion: This EP reveals an interesting approach in electronic underground music. It’s the kind of sound that will not appeal for one specific audience and that might be the strength of Super Dragon Punch!!

Genre/Influences: Minimal-electro, down-tempo electronics, dub-electro.

Background/Info: Crisis Actor (new project of David Thrussell joined by Tony D’Oporto) earlier this year released the successful debut album “Slave New World”. The title song of this EP was originally released on the album and 3 other songs were taken as well,  and all remixed.

Content: “Slave New World” was a fascinating album revealing a high-tech electro-minimalism mixed with intelligent EBM influences. This EP remains pretty minimal, but reveals a down-tempo approach, which sometimes moves towards dubby fields. The songs that were chosen, except “Electronic Eye”, also were some of the quietest ones from the album, which might explain the rather down-tempo approach.

Except one “Extended Remix” of the title song by Crisis Actor, the other cuts have been remixed by D-Echo Project, Xspanse, Displacer,  Tripswitch, Dead Voices On Air, Iszoloscope and Solid State. The remix of “Electronic Eye” by Iszoloscope is the single cut with a real clubby approach.

+ + + : I already liked the “Slave New World”-album and this remixes-EP is an interesting addition to the original versions. The remixers did a real great job and the original minimalism of the songs mixed with down-tempo elements sound like a perfect match. There also is a kind of space dimension emerging from the tracks, which get it a bit ambient-like as well. “Electronic Eye” remains one of my favorite songs and the remixes by Dead Voices On Air and Iszoloscope are simply great pieces of music. The spooky vocal parts are pretty cool as well and add a mysterious flavor to the song.

– – – : I can’t say that I was disappointed by one of the tracks/remixes although the remixes of the title song are the less convincing ones.

Conclusion: If you already enjoyed the album, you for sure gone like this somewhat different side of Crisis Actor created by inspired remixers.

Genre/Influences: EBM, body-pop.

Background/Info: Covenant is back on track and will unleash their new full length “The Blinding Dark” within a few weeks. A first single/EP has been released to give us an idea about the new songs.

The title song has been inspired by the band’s ‘fascination with a network of large concrete acoustic mirrors built during WWII on the coast of southern England. These structures, known as ‘Sound Mirrors’, still stand today and were erected as early-warning devices by British air defense forces to detect incoming enemy aircraft. Yet they were rendered obsolete by the invention of radar long before they could be put into widespread use.’ It also is a story ‘that underscores the paradox of progress’.

Content: “Sound Mirrors” is a rather typical Covenant-song featuring the charismatic vocals of Eskil Simonsson and alluring sound vibrations mixing intelligent sound sculptures and a carrying chorus. Next to this rather catchy title song Covenant also features a more experimental B-side track “In Theory”, which is composed with impressive sound manipulations.

Like any good EP we also get an important part of remixes. “Sound Mirrors” has been remixed by Faderhead, Daniel Myer (Haujobb, Architect) and Iszoloscope.

+ + + : “Sound Mirrors” is a typical Covenant-song without real surprises. It’s the kind of track confirming the high-tech sound of this Swedish leading formation and their unique skills to create ‘hits’. Speaking for myself I prefer the experimentalism and sound research of “In Theory”. The remixes bring some extra diversity to the great title song.

– – – : “Sound Mirrors” definitely is a cool song although not the one that can compete with some of their numerous, earlier hits. I think the album will have more to offer.

Conclusion: Covenant is back on track and already seems to have taken their time to achieve new and masterly written songs. The EP is a cool appetizer; by I’m especially looking forward to discover the full length album.

Genre/Influences: Industrial-rave, dark-electro, industrial-EBM.

Content: This new EP by Seraphim System is meant as a teaser to the new full length album “Automaton Assisted Anihilation”.

Seraphim System remains a total sonic enigma as this formation likes to intermix multiple influences with each other than really belonging to an established music genre although I’m sure it will mainly appeal to lovers of dark-electro and industrial-rave music.

“This Is Invasion” rather sounds like a warning! The title song is a hard and merciless, pumping cut revealing elements of industrial, EBM, dark-electro and even dance-trance music with zombie-robotic vocals on top. Some elements remind me of early God Modulate, but let one thing be clear: this is a band with a unique sound and style.

The “Bass Invasion Version” digs a bit deeper into sound exploration resulting in some d’n’b elements getting the song pretty furious for its rhythmic element while globally speaking this version is more experimental as well.

The last two songs are devastating remixes by two genius sound architects. I think it’s the right song to get remixed by Noisuf-X and Jan L. once more takes the listeners by their bollocks! This remix is pure testosterone and dance energy. The typical hard kick of Noisuf-X and multiple sonic treatments will get you wild.

Iszoloscope injected a boost of industrial power to the song, but here again we can speak about a devastating remix. This song stands for total industrial-rave composed with unique sound treatments. You’ll find this remix also on the CD-format of the album.

Conclusion: “This Is Invasion” maybe is the best EP of 2015! This is a brilliant title song while both remixes stand for perfection!

Out now is the 4-track digital EP “This Is Invasion” by Seraphim System. “This Is Invasion” includes remixes by Noisuf-X and Iszoloscope next to the single edit and the alternate “Bass Invader Version”. Both the “Bass Invader Version” and the Noisuf-X remix are exclusive to this release.

This is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming Seraphim System album “Automaton Assisted Annihilation”. You can order the single via Bandcamp or via iTunes.

The band was originally signed to DWA on the strength of their remix for the fellow DWA act Rave The Reqviem’s debut album. Seraphim System’s own debut album for DWA, “Deadly Force”, was released at at the end of 2014. Sound wise Seraphim System mixes such genres as industrial, aggrotech, power noise, drum’n’bass, dubstep, glitch hop, hardcore, and even elements of metal.

A few weeks ago we reported on Australian act vProjekt who had just released the 4-track download EP “Parallel Commands”. Now we can announce the full info on the new album “Wounds In The Age Of Healing” which is available now on CD and as download.

The CD first edition of “Wounds In The Age Of Healing” comes in a 4-panel digipak and features 4 remixes exclusive to this CD-version – by Haujobb, ESA, Iszoloscope and Wychdoktor – and is strictly limited to 250 units worldwide.

Australian producer Eugene Nesci launched the project in 2011 with the “Exhilarate & Disgust” 15-track debut. After almost 3 years of total silence, Nesci has returned.

Genre/Influences: Industrial, soundscape, Indus-ambient, tribal.

Content: “Deus Irae” resulted from the common efforts of Gwenn Trémorin (Flint Glass) and Thibaud Thaunay (Collapsar, Maculatum). Both French artists have not been very prolific during the past few years when it comes to release new music. They joined forces to accomplish this noticeable sonic trip inspired by the novel “God Of Wrath” written by Phillip K. Dick & Roger Zelasny.

It’s all about an apocalyptic voyage in search of the God of Wrath, which has been transposed by both musicians into a poignant and diversified musical voyage mainly characterized by two long duration compositions. Both tracks simply entitled “Servants Of Wrath” (part I & II) will hold you in their grip for nearly 50 minutes.

We enter a fascinating universe of freaky sound treatments mixed with aquatic sounds and other field recordings. It allows the visitor to explore an obscure and somewhat surreal universe, which progressively evolves towards harder industrial rhythms and overwhelming dark-ambient like sound waves. The visit becomes progressively more tormenting by the injection of hard, crashing sound treatments.

The music becomes more visual-like, which is an element reinforced at “Servants Of Wrath Part II”. This track sounds a bit harder and more into industrial influences, but it also reveals more complexity and industrial sound intelligence. The slow rhythm makes it fully accessible while some kind of breathing blasts again reinforce the feeling of horror. You feel the symbiosis of both artists coming through more strongly on this 2nd cut.

We next get 5 remixes of “Servants Of Wrath” although it’s more appropriated to speak about a real rework. Spherical Disrupted is the first band on the list accentuating the mysterious mood of the track while the industrial style sounds more like manipulated by an acid bath. It’s an interesting cut followed by a cool remix of Hologram.

One of the most noticeable remixes was accomplished by another French project. Sylvgheist Maëlström is a real genius when it comes to create outstanding sound treatments and that’s precisely what comes through on this remix. It sounds harder and totally industrial-like while getting closer to the spirit of Flint Glass. Ah Cama-Sotz did a great job as well accentuating the percussion parts while the ambient element gives this mix a dark shadow.

Last, but not least Iszoloscope brings this album to a great end reinforcing the rhythmic and the industrial components of the track. This version is more into tribal-industrial influences and comes closer to the usual work of Flint Glass as well.

Conclusion: “Deus Irae” stands for a great sonic symbiosis between two complementary bands plus several noticeable and intelligent remixes. This is the kind of collaboration I can only, but encourage to regroup for another release.
