Background/Info: Freak Injection is a French combo based in Paris. The band previously released a few EP’s and this year unleashed the debut album on darkTunes.

Content: After the intro cut Freak Injection directly reveals some of their influences; somewhere in between the power of The Prodigy, the punkish touch of Lords Of Acid and a carrying chorus reminding KLF! They definitely offer a solid sonic melting pot mixing guitars and electronics with heavy –and sometimes broken, rhythms. The female vocals have something hot; a fusion between sensuality and provocation.

+ + + : Freak Injection have the look, and also has a sound. Even if it’s not the most ‘original’ sound, I think there’s not enough bands in their vein. “Daddy Is The Devil” is an enraged production, mixing industrial, punk and pure rock’n’roll. “Freaky Doll” perfectly illustrates this band sound and global approach. I also have to mention the hot sounding “Sex Me”, which will appeal for all lovers of Lords Of Acid.

– – – : The ideas are good, but I’m sometimes missing a few little details to speak about a completely successful work. Especially the choruses could be a little more carrying and elevating.

Conclusion: If you like powerful- and sexy industrial music composed by punks, Freak Injection will be your dope! Not bad for a debut album.

Out via darkTunes is the first album of Freak Injection. “Daddys is the devil” is the follow-up to their recently released new video cover of “Toxic” which was released in July 2019. The band’s music is clearly inspired by Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Die Antwoord, Nina Hagen, Madonna or yet Marilyn Manson. So, indeed hard to define, but I guess that their own description fits their sound the best: hybrid pop-rock-electro.

The band who after its first single and video “Psycho”, released a first EP “Freak in Fashion” in Summer of 2017, went on an ‘Evil Raccoon Tour’ including opening slots for Vive la Fête and Ministry.
