Background/Info: German artist Thorsten Sudler-Mainz strikes back with the sixth full length album of Deep Imagination. This album has been introduced as a very own approach to Dark-Wave.

Content: The work features 7 songs which are holding on familiar ingredients of Deep Imagination which is characterized by an Ambient sphere and Cinematic passages. The work sounds however a bit darker and still featuring melancholic passages. Several songs feature female backing vocals.

+ + + : The main strength of Deep Imagination is that this artist is holding on familiar ingredients and influences of his earlier work while injecting extra, new, elements as well. That’s why this album sounds a bit darker and even somewhat mysterious. Deep Imagination deals with a very unique sound, mixing electronics and guitar playing. I also salute the very professional approach in the way this artist is taking care of a good promotion. 

– – – : This is not the kind of music for ‘hits’ but I’m missing a true climax.

Conclusion: Deep imagination invites the listeners to explore a dark, dreamy, Ambient universe.

About Deep Imagination

Deep Imagination was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2005 by Thorsten Sudler-Mainz as a side project of Art Of Infinity. Over the years his solo work, moving through ambient electronica, art rock and darkwave, became his main project.

With the gothic ambient album “The Children Of The Moon” (2023), Sudler-Mainz returned to the gothic rock and darkwave roots of his musical beginnings in the 1980s. Deep Imagination has continued to release new music and music videos in the years since, including the 2026 album “Come to My Pretty Little Garden,” which features a cover of Dead Can Dance’s “Anywhere Out of the World.”

Background/Info: Frankfurter (Germany) based musician Thorsten Sudler-Mainz strikes back with the fifth album of his sonic alter-ego project Deep Imagination. A few songs were already released as singles. “My Silent Celebration” has been achieved with numerous guest musicians and – singers, featuring a total of eight songs.

Content: This album moves on where previous productions stopped; a deeper exploration of the Psychedelic- and Ambient influences of the band. The guitar playing together with the astral atmospheres creates this particular Psychedelic impression. The album is also characterized by the use of percussions like a frame drum adding an authentic touch to the work. The vocals and chants feature male- and female singers which all together bring a graceful, ethereal element. 

+ + + : Deep Imagination remains a very particular experience, the artist touching ground with different influences. It might appeal for lovers of Pink Floyd, but the album is definitely accessible for a wider audience of open-minded music lovers. This production also reflects an impressive maturity where multiple guests contributed to the writing under the watchful eye of conductor Thorsten Sudler-Mainz. There’s a strong authentic feeling emerging at the surface, which is carried and empowered with Electronic arrangements. Deep Imagination clearly is an ambitious project, which didn’t spare any effort to achieve a professional production and promotion.

– – – : Deep Imagination is not what I would call a master key; it remains a specific experiment covering different influences. It’s therefore not easy to label, but will mainly catch the attention of Ambient music lovers.

Conclusion: “My Silent Celebration” sounds like the artistic apotheosis of Deep Imagination so far and I’m really wondering how this project will evolve.

Genre/Influences: Psychedelic, ethereal, cinematographic, ambient.

Background/Info: “Carefully Kept Secrets” is the fourth full length by Deep Imagination. This German solo-project is driven by the creative spirit of Thorsten Sudler-Mainz.

Content: I already had the opportunity to discover previous work of Deep Imagination. This opus sounds in the logical continuation of this work and moves on exploring a psychedelic electro-rock universe, which sometimes appears to be the natural child of Pink Floyd and Enigma.

Some female vocals parts remind me of the ethereal style of Enya, but I can mention Delerium on a few of the other cuts. There are many elements running through this album, which features somewhat ethereal chants, slow tribal like rhythms, spoken evasive male vocals and angelic female ones.

+ + + : Deep Imagination remains a fascinating sound experience, which will appeal to a wider audience. The progression running through “ Wings To Fly” is absolutely fascinating, revealing a sonic voyage. But I also have to mention the beautiful “Album Version” of “Dancing With Ghosts” – previously released as single title track. “Carefully Kept Secrets” is an artistic and beautiful piece of work bringing you a kind of relaxation effect.

– – – : I regret a few cuts are maybe a bit too short and I’m especially referring to “Paradise In Space”, which also is one of the most beautiful cuts of the work. It could be an idea to compose an extended version of this song!

Conclusion: Deep Imagination is a band taking you by the hand on a mysterious, but prosper music journey. It will give you a real good feeling sensation.

Background/Info: Thorsten Sudler-Mainz is mainly known for his involvement in the Art Of Infinity, but he’s also been involved in the solo-project Deep Imagination since 2005. He already released a few albums and EP’s under this moniker and now strikes back with this single featuring 2 songs.

He invited a few guest artists like a guitarist, a drummer and 3 singers.

Content: The new work has been introduced as more ‘rock’-like, which is due to the guitar adding a rock and somewhat psychedelic effect. The songs remain carried by elevating electronics injecting a soundtrack touch while the female vocals add a heavenly touch to the work.

+ + + : There’s an interesting match between the psychedelic-minded guitar and the dreamy electronics. I also like the different female singers bringing a touch of sensuality, which fits with the slow cadence. Both songs have been meticulously elaborated confirming the writing skills of this German musician.

– – – : “Carefully Kept Secrets” is a single and 2 tracks aren’t that much to be fully satisfied. I would have liked to hear more songs.

Conclusion: Deep Imagination remains an interesting formation, which will mainly appeal to lovers of evasive electronics and cinematographic experiences. It’s not exactly a groundbreaking release although a pleasant listening.

Background/Info: Deep Imagination is the solo-work of Art Of Infinity member Thorsten Sudler-Mainz. This EP is meant as a teaser to the upcoming new album by Deep Imagination, which will be entitled “Deeper Than Trance – Deeper Than Space”. It will the 4^th full length from this German artist.

Content: The title song sounds ethereal-like and is sung by a sexy female guest vocalist. The song is pretty evasive and reveals a sacred touch.

Several guest musicians and singers have been invited to join the beautiful ambient universe of this work. The “Chillout Version” of the title song accentuates the divine, sacred element of this electro-ambient work while some extra guitar parts have been added as well.

The B-side song is more than simply a filler and reminds me a bit to the enlightening sound waves of Enya.

+ + + : The songs reveal a delicious sensation of reverie, which is accentuated by beautiful female vocals and chants.

– – – : I personally prefer the remix instead of the original/single version of the title song.

Conclusion: Deep Imagination stands for what this name might evoke to the listeners; this is a sweet and tender sonic caress.
