Background/Info: David Marvelly is a London based artist operating under the Corvax moniker.  After a debut-EP (cf. “Fake”) released in 2018, Corvax this year strikes back with this new work featuring four cuts. The artist claims to be inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Massive Attack and Mike Patton. 

Content: Both debut songs indeed have something pretty NIN-like in the way they have been conceived; rather slow and sweet verses followed by harder, mind-blowing choruses. Both last cuts are pretty short tracks, which appear more like filling the EP instead of being real songs.

+ + + : I think the songs “Pills” and “Talk To The Man” clearly reveal some potential. It’s not only reminding me of the song structure of early NIN, but also Nirvana. There’s something angelic and demonic running through the tracks. I’ve a preference for “Pills” instead of the title song.

– – – : Both last cuts are simply avoidable; they don’t bring any extra to the EP and that’s rather surprising as the last cut (cf. “Failure”) is featuring a female guest singer; this song is shorter than 1 minute!

Conclusion: Corvax reveals some potential, but has to gain experience and maturity to unleash a fully, cohesive and credible EP.

Best songs: “Pills”, “Talk To The Man”.
