Bow Wow Wow, the post-punk band famous for their fusion of new wave, worldbeat, and pop, will hit the road again in autumn 2025 for their ‘C-30, C-60, C-90 GO!’ 45th anniversary tour. The tour marks four and a half decades since the release of their debut single, “C-30, C-60, C-90 GO!”.

The tour will feature founding vocalist Annabella Lwin. Fans can expect a setlist packed with hits including “Go Wild In The Country” and their international breakthrough “I Want Candy”. Select shows will include support from the ska-punk band Millie Manders and The Shutup.

About Bow Wow Wow

Bow Wow Wow emerged in 1980, when Malcolm McLaren – infamous manager of the Sex Pistols – recruited members of Adam and the Ants (guitarist Matthew Ashman, bassist Leigh Gorman, and drummer Dave Barbarossa) to form a new project.

He paired them with Annabella Lwin, then just 13 years old, whose Burmese-British background and powerful vocals matched the band’s eclectic mix. For a brief period, the band also featured Boy George as co-vocalist before he left to form Culture Club.

The band’s debut single, “C-30, C-60, C-90 Go!”, was released initially as a cassette-only single. It openly encouraged music piracy with lyrics that celebrated home taping.

Their debut album, “See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah! City All Over, Go Ape Crazy”, was released in 1981. The album produced their first hit, “Go Wild in the Country”.

Bow Wow Wow toured extensively, sharing stages with The Police, Queen, Madness, and The Pretenders.

In 1982, Bow Wow Wow scored a global hit with their version of “I Want Candy”, originally by The Strangeloves.

The group disbanded in 1983 amid internal tensions. Annabella Lwin moved on to front The Naked Experience, collaborating with producers like Guy Chambers, Jason Nevins, and Utah Saints. Guitarist Matthew Ashman passed away in 1995. In 2023 Bow Wow Wow already reunited once for a tour.

The Swedish electro pop act Covenant has announced the death of Andreas Catjar-Danielsson. Andreas Catjar-Danielsson passed away in the very early morning of July 29 after a long struggle with cancer.

Originating from Snöstorp, Hallands Län, Sweden Andreas was a member in Souls and joined the Swedish band Covenant in 2013 contributing both on keyboards and guitars on such albums like “Leaving Babylon” released in 2013 and “The Blinding Dark” in 2016. He also composed music for theaters and produced the next Abu Nein album.

Andreas Catjar-Danielsson’s last social media posts were various pictures and artworks. This was his last music work, an excellent cover of the Bow Wow Wow track “The Man Mountain” which he recorded with Antonia Henn.

Confirming appearances at Newcastle O2 City Hall (16th August), Manchester’s O2 Ritz (17th August) and London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (22nd August), Thomas Dolby has now also added a UK leg to his planned Summer tour. Special guest Martin McAloon will support the UK performances, presenting live renditions of Prefab Sprout songs.

Thomas Dolby is set to embark on a North American tour this Summer, named the Totally Tubular tour, featuring around 20 dates. The tour will showcase a lineup of iconic acts, including Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Modern English, Bow Wow Wow, The Plimsouls, The Romantics, among others. Although the tour primarily covers North America, with a couple of dates in Canada, no European dates had been announced aprat from the W – Fest in Ostend, Belgium, at the end of August.

Thomas Dolby has a career spanning 35 years. He emerged as an early MTV icon producing innovative videos. In 1980, McLaren convinced David Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman, and Leigh Gorman to leave Adam Ant and form a new group. After a six-month audition process, 13-year-old Annabella Lwin was selected as the lead singer. Shortly after Lwin joined the group, McLaren added a second lead singer, George Alan O’Dowd, dubbed “Lieutenant Lush”. His stay was short-lived, however. O’Dowd soon formed a new band called Culture Club and went on to superstardom under the name Boy George.

The band signed with EMI Records in 1980 and released their first single, “C·30 C·60 C·90 Go!”. Despite its lack of promotion, it it did well in the charts. In 1981, the band signed with RCA Records and released their first full-length album, “See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah! City All Over, Go Ape Crazy!”, featuring the hit, “Go Wild in the Country”.

The band’s follow-up EP, “The Last of the Mohicans”, included their biggest hit single, “I Want Candy”. Bow Wow Wow released their second full-length album, “When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going”, in 1983. However, tensions within the group led to Lwin’s firing in September 1983, and the band disbanded shortly after. Small detail, Lwin reportedly learned of her ousting by reading it in NME. Apparently her bandmates lacked the courage to say themselves they were forming the electro band Chiefs Of Relief instead.

Post-breakup, the remaining members formed a new group, Chiefs of Relief, while Lwin pursued a solo career. In 1997, Lwin and Gorman reformed Bow Wow Wow with guitarist Dave Calhoun and drummer Eshan Khadaroo, releasing a compilation CD and embarking on a tour. The band has since continued to perform and record music, including contributing to film soundtracks and tribute albums.

And now they are back on tour, joined by The Beat.

Again not so good news from the (dark) Belgian festival scene. The Business Court of Hasselt has allowed Wave to Synth, the company behind the W-festival and Sinner’s Day, a procedure of judicial reorganization according to the Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg. The organizer received a temporary suspension of payments until March 20, 2023. There is an outstanding debt of more than 2.8 million euros.

According to the organizer, the bankruptcy of the British company that arranged their ticket sales is at the root of the financial problem. The chances are slim that the organizer of Sinner’s Day and W-Festival will see some of their money back. They are now trying to reach an agreement with the creditors to allow the next edition of the W-Festival in Ostend to take place.

The 2023 edition of the W-Festival is planned for 25-27 August 2023. Already scheduled for that festival are the following acts: Nena, Bow Wow Wow, Midge Ure, Project Pitchfork, Modern English, When In Rome, Corpus Delicti.

W-Festival attracted over 20.000 people in the Summer of 2022.

As far as Sinner’s Day is concerned, the Winter 2022 edition was already canceled and postponed to next year. In a reaction the organisation then said that it was canceled “in order to keep our company in the game and to guarantee well organized festivals as we did this summer”.

The organizers also said that the reason for all this “is the lack of enthusiasm of the Belgian scene for the scheduled line-up this year, despite our marketing efforts – both in Belgium and abroad – the (ticketing) interest in our program is not at all what we had predicted, it is even far from our worst case scenario.”

Belgium and the darkwave scene, it has always been a complicated situation.

UPDATE: We wrongly published that the David Tibet album reissue of “Ferelith” came in 2 versions. In fact there are no two versions, but 2 different albums, the second being “Fontelatus”. The text has been adapted.

(Photo via Discogs) Out on April 30th is a reissue of the 2020 David Tibet (Current 93) albums “Ferelith” and “Fontelatus”. Originally released by Cashen’s Gap, House of Mythology now re-issues both albums.

The releases come in two different vinyl editions, the first is a transparent marbled vinyl (111 copies), the second version is a clear and black marbled vinyl.

The “Ferelith” album has a printed insert on Japanese style paper and a small card, with the album’s cover on one side, and the name of the album on the other side. Each card is hand signed by David Tibet.

This is the first and 2nd part in a series of 5 releases. Note that every single track is untitled and this on all 5 of the albums.

About David Tibet

David Tibet is a British poet and artist who founded the music group Current 93, of which he is the only full-time member. He was given the name “Tibet” by Genesis P-Orridge, and in January 2005 he announced that he would revert to the name David Michael, although he continues to use the well-known “Tibet” in his public career to date.

Early in his career, he collaborated with Psychic TV and 23 Skidoo. Tibet left Psychic TV in 1983 and founded Current 93 the same year. He has worked with Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound (of which band he is a member), Michael Cashmore, Douglas P. (of Death in June, on whose albums he has appeared several times), Steve Ignorant of Crass (using the name “Stephen Intelligent”), Boyd Rice, Little Annie, Björk, Nick Cave, Rose McDowall, Tiny Tim, Annabella Lwin (of Bow Wow Wow) and Ian Read of Fire and Ice.

Tibet is more recently also part of a project called Nodding God, whose debut album, “Play Wooden Child”, was released in 2019. Tibet provided the vocals for this album, singing in the Akkadian language. Nodding God also features Andrew Liles, and an anonymous artist credited as the “Underage Shaitan Boy”.
