This Eternal Decay is an industrial dark-wave project formed by Riccardo Sabetti (Spiral69), Pasquale Vico (Date at Midnight), Andrea Freda (Spiritual Front), and Alessio Schiavi (Avant-Garde). Out now is the single and video “Rise & Fall”. “Rise & Fall” is the first single from “Spettro”, the new album by This Eternal Decay, set to be released on January 10, 2025 (Trisol Music Group). Musically the combo channels their passion for romantic darkwave, blending it with industrial rhythms and echoes of synthpop.

“Rise & Fall” will be available on all digital platforms from October 18, 2024 (pre-save here), but you can now exclusively view the video for the track right below. The video for “Rise & Fall” was created by editing together all the footage sent in by fans recorded during the concerts of the last tour. “It is intended to be a kind of “love letter” to our audience,” so the band says.

“Rise & Fall” addresses the issue of gaslighting so the band says: “A form of psychological abuse that is becoming increasingly common in many relationships due to the growing individualism in modern society. It explores the destructiveness of relationships centered around one person’s ego, which leads to the annihilation of the other, ultimately resulting in the complete loss of self-esteem and the desire to engage with the world. A toxic relationship from which the only escape is to disappear.”

About This Eternal Decay

This Eternal Decay made their debut with the album “I Choose an Eternity of This” (Trisol Music Group), which was followed by a tour through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, supporting Samsas Traum twice that same year.

In April 2020, they released their second album, “Silence”, featuring guest appearances from Then Comes Silence and Theatres des Vampires. However, the global pandemic forced them to cancel several European tour dates. In June 2021, they bounced back with the maxi single “Leave”, which included the title track, two remixes by Kurs Lestat, and an acoustic version with Luigi Rubino (Ashram) on piano.

On January 7, 2022, their third studio album, “Nocturnæ”, was released, featuring collaborations with Hapax and Avant-Garde, as well as remixes by ACTORS, Ash Code, Wisborg, and A Copy for Collapse. The release was followed by the 15-date European NocTour in October 2022.

In 2022, the band recorded their fourth studio album, “Absølutiøn” (Trisol Music Group), which was released on May 18, 2023. The album’s release was followed by an extensive European tour, playing over 30 shows across the continent.

The track is taken from their upcoming album, “Absolution”, set for release on May 19th, 2023. This dark synth ballad explores the concept of love as time passes, revealing how what once excited us can eventually become frightening.

“The Heart of a Lover” is available on all streaming and digital platforms from today, April 14, on. It features an Exfeind remix and an acoustic version of the track. And today Side-Line can exclusively reveal the all new video that will accompany the new single.

This non-traditional video showcases digital artwork created by Roman artist Alessandra Meneghello, also known as @disagire. The digital painting evolves in tandem with the song’s sounds, expressing the emotions woven into its sonic layers.

The album will be preceded by three singles, featuring remixes from Ductape and Zeromancer, and the first single/video is out now: “Perfection” which you can view below.

The album itself showcases eleven what the band describes as “murder synth-ballads” that delve into love as a simultaneously nurturing and destructive force. The dark folk, ethereal, darkwave, neoclassic, experimental act Corde Oblique returns with a brand new album, “The moon is a dry bone”. The 7th studio album by Corde Oblique includes 11 unreleased songs written and produced by Riccardo Prencipe and also includes a cover from Anathema.

For the occasion the project worked with such guest musicians as Rita Saviano, Edo Notarloberti, Umberto Lepore, Alessio Sica, Luigi Rubino, Michele Maione, Carmine Ioanna, Caterina Pontrandolfo, Denitza Seraphim, Maddalena Crippa, Sergio Panarella, Andrea Chimenti and Miro Sassolini.

From Corde Oblique to music for the italian national TV braodcast RAI

Corde Oblique is the artistic project directed by M.tro Riccardo Prencipe and was founded in 2005. Since 2005 the band has released 7 full-lenght albums with different labels. Over the years the Corde Oblique albums have featured a lot of guests musicians, some of them from the following bands: Anathema, Daemonia Nymphe, Officina Zoé, Spakka Napoli, Synaulia, Spiritual Front, Argine, Ashram, Pinknruby, Gothica, Hexperos, Mediavolo and Dwelling.

Before Corde Oblique was formed, Riccardo started in 1999 with his first band Lupercalia with whom he released a first album with the English label World Serpent. Riccardo has also been writing music and lyrics for other musicians.

Riccardo Prencipe also wrote the soundtrack for the DVD-documentary “I Longobardi del sud” attached to the catalogue of the exhibition in Rende (CZ) in 2008. His music was also used as the soundrack for the italian national TV braodcast RAI.

Set up in the late 90s, Ashram released their official- and self-titled debut album in 2002 on Prikosnovénie (France). The second full length “Shining Silver Skies” got released in 2006 on Equilibrium Music (Portugal). The Italian’s neo-classic approach filled with grace and reverie brought them to perform on very different places and countries all over the globe. It took Ashram eleven years to unleash a new opus, entitled “Human And Divine”. They self-released the album in 2017 while Dark Vinyl (Germany) has re-released “Human And Divine” this year. The new songs composed by Alfredo Lotarnoberti, Luigi Rubino and Sergio Panarella stand for artistic grace and sensibility. I’d a short chat with the band.

Q: “Human And Divine” is your third album in more than 20 years and the first ‘new’ one since “Shining Silver Skies” (2006). How come you’re not more prolific while you still moved on playing live performances?

Ashram: Our lives have changed a lot over the last 10 years. We have families and children and this has limited the quantity of time we can devote to music. But somehow, in spite of all and even mysteriously, we managed to release our new album while playing live abroad, from the Azores to China.

Q: I noticed you already played several tours in China! How did you get in touch with the Chinese scene and what did you keep in mind from these experiences, the audience… ?

Ashram: We still don’t know how it happened, our music was mysteriously and amazingly appreciated in China, where we have always found a warm and unexpectedly large audience. In our latest tour there we played ten concerts in front of a total of 5000 people, and what impressed us was that many of those were teenagers.

Q: When did the writing of “Human And Divine” start and tell us a bit more about your way of composing songs, the arrangements and the production?

Ashram: It started 5 years ago. Music is born just like the sun is born, following its nature.

Q: What have been the lyrical influences for this album and what does the title of the album stand for?

Ashram: A positive spiritual attitude results in a powerful energy that connects human and divine, or simply opens your mind to horizons beyond life. This can happen spontaneously, like one flow leading to a love supreme, as in the wonderful album by John Coltrane. Each culture has its reference figure, and mine is Jesus.

Q: Another noticeable fact in Ashram’s career is that one of your songs has been chosen as soundtrack for a WWF video campaign. I can imagine that it must have been something really special, but how did it happen and do you feel involved with WWF and all they’re doing?

Ashram: WWF simply chose one of our songs, and we have been happy to collaborate with them in that environmental campaign.

Q: Alfredo and Luigi, you both are still involved with Corde Oblique. This band is much more prolific when it comes to release music, but what makes the difference for you between both bands and is there a kind of hierarchy between the bands you’re involved with?

Ashram: Corde Oblique is Riccardo Prencipe’s brainchild, who’s quite prolific and active in the music scene. Both of us are more like guest musicians, while as for Ashram we fully express the different parts of our soul, which remains very harmonious with the music.

Background/Info: The Italian trio Ashram is back after a long silence. Hailing from Napoli the band released its self-titled debut album in 2002 on the great Prikosnovénie. I was deeply impressed by the artistic creation of this debut album while the successor “Shining Silver Skies” (2006) released on Equilibrium Music was a tiny bit less convincing. Alfredo Lotarnoberti, Luigi Rubino (both also involved in the great Corde Oblique) and Sergio Panarella are now back on track unleashing the third Ashram album.

Content: Ashram remains inspired by neo-classical music and can be seen as a kind of modern chamber music project. The songs have been composed with piano and violin creating a sad, but beautiful exposure. It’s pure melancholia and reverie. Next to a few instrumental songs you also will discover sensitive and sometimes emotional vocal parts. Ashram brings us little stories; kind of reflection about life, love, spirituality and loss.

+ + + : I’m very thankful Ashram is finally back on track with such a beautiful and deeply artistic piece of music. The violin and piano parts create strong emotion, which together with the sensitive touch of the vocals are bringing this composition to a higher dimension. The songs also have something visual and I often get the feeling to awake in the novels of Jane Austen. It has something pure, but unfortunately platonic and dramatic, but in the end I simply like it! Just pay attention to “Air”, which is a pure sonic jewel.

– – – : There’s not a lot of diversity between the songs, but I’m not complaining when listening to such a little masterpiece.

Conclusion: Ashram is back and that’s really great news, but the main thing is that their work excels in beauty, senses and sensibility…

The Italian neoclassical/wave act Ashram finally returns with brand new material.

Their much overdue and eagerly expected third full-length album “Human and Divine” will be released on Dark Vinyl Records and holds 13 songs featuring vocals, violin, piano and guitar. You can order it right here.

Ashram was formed in 1997 when Sergio Panarella (vocals) and Luigi Rubino (piano) started collecting ideas. During the process of writing their first songs the duo invited Alfredo (edo) Nortarloberti to be part of the project. A demo, “For My Sun”, got self-released in 1998, followed by an appearance on Energeia’s compilation “Intimations of Immortality Vol. 5” with the song “Spirit of the Rising Moon”.

In 2001 the band signed with the French label Prikosnovenie for the release of the excellent self-titled debut album “Ashram”. 2 more releases followed: “Shining Silver Skies“ (2006 on the Portuguese label Equilibrium) and the DVD “Gathered under Shining Silver Skies” (2010 on Dying Art Productions).

Genre/Influences: IDM, industrial-ambient.

Background/Info: Templezone is an Italian solo-project set up a few years ago by Giorgio Ricci who was originally active during the 90s as a member of the legendary Italian EBM formation Temple Beat. Ricci later got involved in projects like RAN and Monosonik. After a few EP’s “Neosphera” is the first full length of Templezone.

Content: “Neosphera” definitely is one of the most accomplished compositions I’ve heard from Giorgio Ricci. It’s a sophisticated opus mixing industrial noises and pure IDM. The songs have been accomplished with numerous subtle elements like sampled voices, bleeping sequences, broken beats and slow rhythms.

You can feel a real passion for sound creation, which comes mainly through from the manipulated sounds and analog noises. The songs are supported by great atmospheric synth parts injecting a dark touch to the work.

+ + + : “Neosphera” is an album that was composed with knowledge and you can feel the passion and patience to find the right sound, which has been put in the right place. It’s a passionate ‘intelligent industrial music’ creation, which is experimental and yet very accessible. There also is an interesting mix of influences running through this opus.

– – – : I can’t find real minus points in this work, but only a few less captivating cuts like the somewhat monotonous opening song.

Conclusion: Templezone composed a progressive work that will please lovers of IDM and avant-garde industrial music, which is more based upon intelligent sound creation instead of cheap and noisy improvisation and/or endless repetitive power-loops.

Best songs: “Ashram”, “For”, “On”, “Plastic Love”.
