Background/Info: It took approximately six years for the Spanish act A.T.Mödell to achieve their fifth studio album.

Content: The band already showed an interesting progression at their previous work (cf. “Epic Nightmares”), which they just confirmed by a more achieved and extremely powerful sound. I don’t want to compare this band to any other one, but they remind me a bit of the sonic violence created by Cubanate. They compose a kind of sonic mayhem driven by furious rhythms and an impressive sound canvas. The sound is harsh and merciless, which is fitting with the aggressive and possessed way of singing.

+ + + : A.T.Mödell is a sonic power bomb, but it also appears to be a ‘controlled chaos’. The songs have been accomplished with great sound treatments and especially the final part of the album reveals a succession of great tracks. They found the perfect balance between power and alluring Electronic treatments. There are several great songs featured, but I recommend listening to “Inflame Your Hate”, “An Open Wound That Oozes Something Black”, “Kissed And Killed” and “Fairytales Of Murder” as the main attention grabbers.

– – – : Some of the tracks right at the beginning of the album are a little bit hesitant, but it rapidly moves into a great Industrial work.

Conclusion: The album reflects the true spirit of this album, but it reveals a band with a growing maturity and huge potential!

Best songs: “Inflame Your Hate”, “An Open Wound That Oozes Something Black”, “Kissed And Killed”,  “Fairytales Of Murder”, “Mary vs. The Light”.

Background/Info: A.T.Mödell is a Spanish electronic band active since 2010. “Epic Nightmares” is the 4^th album from the band. From their previous work you might have heard of the “Apocalyptophilia”-album released in 2013 by Danse Macabre.

Content: The debut songs don’t totally convince although they reveal great industrialized sound treatments. It’s not exactly what I would call a common electronic style while the vocals are enraged and sometimes a bit into punk.

Quite progressively the work unleashes remarkable sound treatments and judicious arrangements revealing raw sound treatments and cold sequences. There also is a kind of electro-rock touch hanging over the work.

There’s a kind of intermezzo somewhere in the midst of the album, which reveals a cinematographic approach. After this kind of break A.T.Mödell sounds like unleashing all its demons and brings us power and energy. The tracks get harder and especially more efficient resulting in a few outstanding songs. It’s an efficient mix between raw electronics sometimes reminding me of Combichrist and a kind of dark-EBM approach.

+ + + : This band is not exactly reinventing power-electro and dark EBM, but features a few outstanding and well-crafted cuts. The industrial sound treatments are great.

– – – : The debut part of the album sounds a bit hesitant and not totally convincing.

Conclusion: A.T.Mödell is one of those ‘little thumbs’ active at the wider fields of dark-electro and EBM who can start competing with bigger bands. There’re a few brilliant songs at this album.

Best songs: “Enjoy Your Time”, “Proud Of Us”, “Razor Steel”, “Hypno-Murder”.
