The Canadian industrial act 40 Octaves Below has just dropped the remix release, “MetaVersUs Remixed”. The album contains tracks from the 40 Octaves Below release, “MetaVersUs”.

The remix album counts no less than 18 tracks that have been reworked by the likes of DI Auger, Moris Blak, MXMS, Anthony (H), Angelspit, Live Evil Productions, Aesthetic Perfection, Blue Ant, The Gothsicles, DJ Underminer, Trick Casket, Diverje, Toxikk Deception, James Ghost, Dark The Keeper, Passion For Hypnosis and of course also by the Vancouver-based 40 Octaves Below.

“MetaVersUs Remixed” is available now to stream on all major digital platforms including Bandcamp.

The Canadian Vancouver-based industrial act 40 Octaves Below has just dropped their new single, “Splintered”. The track is the first single to appear on the forthcoming full-length album, “MetaVersUs”.

Drake Moore explains that the focal point of “Splintered” is retributio: “The song itself is a casting that calls for the guilty to come to Justice.”

The single features four remixes from Matt Hart, Anthony (H), Live Evil Productions and Silence In Machine next to the original mix. The single is available now on all digital platforms including Bandcamp.

Out on January 10th via Bandcamp and on January 14th via all other services is the all new single by Angelspit, called “Killed on Camera”. The single features the exclusive B-side “I am Laughing” plus 9 remixes from The Gothsicles, Dirt Factory, Batavia Band, Nervous?, :Waijdan:, Upon Eventual Collapse, 40 Octaves Below, Liquid Moral Cult and Live Evil Productions.

The title track features vocals from Melody Lynn (Queen of the Static Opera) and Angelspit’s Zoog Von Rock. This is the second single taken from the band’s newest album “Diesel Priest”.

Genre/Influences: EBM, dark-electro.

Background/Info: 40 Octaves Below is a Canadian project. This album took 13 years (!) to get achieved and learnt that ‘sound is a wave 40 octaves lower than the frequency of light’.

Content: This project clearly sounds inspired by EBM and dark-electronics. The production is pretty rough, unpolished, revealing industrial sound treatments and somewhat reminding me of productions from the 90s. I get the feeling you can hear that the songs were composed over a long period as especially the second half of the album sounds more elaborated.

+ + + : This work will appeal to lovers of 90s EBM. It’s an old-fashioned production, which sounds rather simple although some cuts are a little more sophisticated. “Creep-U” is a song revealing a bit more potential and definitely the path to follow!

– – – : Generally speaking, the sound production and mix of this album are rather poor and not very professional.

Conclusion: 40 Octaves Below first of all has to improve the global production process, but especially focus on a better mix and recording.

Best songs: “Creep-U”, “siKr – Original Incept Mix”.
