Genre/Influences: Synth-pop/minimal wave.
Content: This is the second release of this Dutch duo from Amsterdam, containing 14 tracks. In between every song is a short interlude (soundscape) on which Giek is speaking, which sometimes sounds like a fragment out of a movie. Lucifer’s Dream follows the 432Hz composition music theory and stands for balance between human nature and technology. The music will take you away or make you dream, some calm songs might even be good to meditate on.
+ + + : This first full-cd goes further in the same line as the previous EP “Remember”.
– – – : The vocal-color of Giek might for some people become a bit disturbing after a while, especially when listening to the whole cd at once. Not all tracks are fully “danceable”.
Conclusion: Lucifer’s Dream brings very dreamy atmospheric songs which can take your mind away, especially because of the voice of Giek. This is modern synth-pop with a wink to the nineties!
Best songs: “Adrenaline Desire”, “Don’t Hesitate”, “Fight For Love”.
