Genre/Influences: Electro-industrial, minimal dark-electro-ambient.
Despite of the 80s influences I can’t say that the work of Autopsie D’Une Ombre sounds very 80s minded. It more appears to be a mix of electro-industrial elements mixed with dark atmospheres. The only real vintage element is the use of cool synthesizer parts. The tracks are quite fascinating for their obscure flavor and the minimal electro loops. Sébastien Espi sings in a rather dark way, his timbre of voice being rather grave.
The minimalism of the work is a quite noticeable element, which comes through at the 4 first cuts. “Fate” and especially “Hatred” both are remarkable and well-crafted cuts on which the artist also reveals real skills in manipulating sounds. I can’t really compare this band with another one and that’s for sure one of the main strengths of this work. The influences are not new, but the way all elements have been merged makes the originality of this work.
Conclusion: This EP sounds as a promising debut for this French project. This is a band I really hope to hear more from in the future.
Best songs: “Hatred”, “Fate”.
