Alphamay – Conformity (Album – Battersea)

Genre/Influences: Dark-pop, wave-pop, body-pop. Format: Digital, CD. Background/Info: German duo Cris Frickenschmidt –  Henning Hammoor have been active since 2013. They this year strike back with the sixth full length album “Conformity” revealing thirteen new songs. Content: Alphamay moves on their exploration of electro-pop music. It’s a powerful format, which is often connected with EBM, but also featuring dark-wave elements. The songs stand for melody and dance! One of the most achieved songs from the album (cf. “Silence Of The Youth”) might appeal for lovers of Blutengel. It has this melodic and danceable wave-pop approach, which can’t leave you unmoved. Next to some power-pop songs the work also features a few softer cuts. + + + : Alphamay is a band I’ve kept an eye on for several years. “Conformity” definitely is the album that has the potential to reach a wider –and especially international audience. The songs are well-crafted, revealing great writing skills. Electro-pop needs a strong melodic side and Alphamay has it for sure! The melodies even have something elevating.
