I just came across the above video when browsing through Google video and I remembered an interview I had with Jean-Luc De Meyer from Front 242 back in the mid nineties in the now closed Falstaff pub in Brussels. During the interview he mentioned that the video made by the Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn for the "Headhunter" song was in fact the result of a misunderstanding. Something that is quite well known to the older music fans but less known to the new generation of industrial music fans, so here is an update in music history.
The band had sent him the music of the song but they themselves hadn't read the script in advance. When they were actually shooting the videoclip, they started wondering why there were actually so many eggs involved in the script. Watching the videoclip you will see that it is indeed filled with eggs, even with people wearing egg-like hats.
The clue? It seemed that Anton Corbijn actually understood the title of the song to be "Egghunter"which explains the eggs... Even after he knew the correct title was "Headhunter", he still wanted to keep the eggs throughout the video clip. The mistake gave birth to a very absurd clip which was brilliant. It shows that even mistakes can become great ideas.
