What was this album? (Toronto people especially needed)

    I recently visited the Toronto HMV superstore with my girlfriend, and she used the listening station beside the Goth/Industrial section of the store to check out some new music. She really liked this one CD there, that was advertized as being "Songs From The Inverted Womb" by Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows. So she bought that album, but when she listened to it at home it was not the same CD (or even band, in all likelihood) that was in the HMV listening station. The CD she really wanted to buy was more of a dancey darkwave one, in the vein of newer Die Form, but it had kind of a "Nintenodo" sound to the electronics too- pretty cool, I wish I could say more about it but I only heard a few seconds of it myself. If anyone here is in that store soon, can you check this for us? Or even suggest what she might have heard, if you know any music that fits the description?

    I think you may be right. They do sound like something she would like, in any case.

    Shots for all !

    they still have an industrial section? I remember when that store had 5 rows of industrial/goth music, last time I was there it was down to 1/5th what it was.

    Yeah, it's still there. I'm not sure what you count as a "row", it's a single aisle but takes up about three of their shelving units in length. And holds a lot of goth and EBM, not solely industrial, but there's something for everyone. I got "Another Merzbow Records" from it when we went.

    im pretty sure Storming The Base takes care of who is in the listening booth / stocks the industrial section at that HMV, maybe drop them an email and ask.

    @Brapley

    I mean (in your words) 2 aisles, so in my words 4 rows.

    Sounds like the new mind.in.a.box album but easily could have been Erdball as well...

  10. Why would anyone ever mistake Welle: Erdball for Sopor Aeternus!?

    Because neither of us had heard of either of them before, and HMV put the wrong CD on display.

    Anyhow we should be pleased that a physical store is still displaying both Welle:Erdball and Sopor Aeternus.

    BTW you should check Sopor Aeternus, it's very different but a very interesting project too, especially Songs From The Inverted Womb which I like most.

    why dont you just go back to the store and ask an employee to take the cd out of the booth and look at it?

  17. So after trying the stupid thing like 5 times I finally got it to work, I looked at the displayed albums and thankfully knew the sounds of almost all of them. CD 10, bottom right hand side was indeed sopor aeternus, once I heard it I knew it wasn't SA and had a suspicion of what it was, so I went to the only track i've ever heard before "8 bits" which brings me to your answer the album is Mind.In.A.Box - R.E.T.R.O. !
