  3. At the moment, probably post-rock or IDM. Still listen to a lot of trance as well, and a fair deal of modern metal.

Wow, good question. I guess, for me, it would be music like Wire, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure (circa Faith album), Bauhaus, The Chameleons, Joy Division, Death In June... I guess that would be called Post-Punk? (I am terrible with nomenclature...)

i like good noise, in whatever genre it gets categorized into. that said, i loved the "shoegazer" stuff. the noise in my head i'm always trying to capture is some whacked combination of SP, Gridlock-esque punchy gritty beats with a wailing grumbley wall of washed out melodic shoegaze feedback noise.

I try to keep tabs on what's going on in the worlds of Electro-House and Trance.
But my friend summed it up perfectly recently while we were on a 3hr car trip and I was playing a bunch of stuff off my iPod, from Infected Mushroom to some noise and lots of different styles. After a while I put on a Hocico track and she said: "Man, there's nothing better than this. I mean, sure, we listen to every style of music in the world, but in the end we're really just waiting to come back to this".

I'd never thought of it so bluntly but I agree 110%. I'll listen to and enjoy anything as long as it's good, but I'd really rather be listening to Hocico. :)

I don´t care very much about that old industrial stuff, but beside this I like a lot of the rhythm noise and other beat stuff, ambient and also music like this stuff that was released on 4ad (This mortal coil, Cocteau Twins etc.). Music from Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tom Waits, Astrud Gilberto, Edith Piaf, Ken Ishii to name a few others
oh - and Foyer des Artes, AG Geige and Holger Hiller too

why should anyone limit themself to a certain style? love music! if its a good song, I dont care if its country or polka! I mean, I never heard a cool polka tune, but I am sure, its out there;)

I used some polka like tunes in a song. But it was never released.
But somehow I was never into Metalstuff. Maybe I there is some good metal, but I just don´t know it.
