uh oh i just got electronic saviors comp way early!!!!!

(65 posts)

  1. I've stated since forever that I don't understand how 90% of the posters here at side-line are giving reviews (mostly negative) about new cd's that aren't even released yet. I remember the :W: thread where pretty much everyone on here had the cd well before it was released.

In fact some ppl on here piss me off cause before a cd is officially released they already posted on here about how much they hate it and it will never be like the way it was back in the day. Really? You say the same thing about every cd that comes out! Did you really buy it weeks before the release date just to bash it?
I'm always a few seconds away from banning these douchbags but then I decide against it.

Anywayz whatever, I'll buy the electronic saviors comp after i'm done paying my bills and thats the best answer I can give.

  3. @S80 ...
You're absolutely right, but by sending out promo copies that early the labels somehow do shoot themselves in the foot.

  4. @Metrojim ...
I know you didn't send out any promo copies of the new suicide commando album and I'm really glad about it this time.
It's the only way to prevent releases ending up on the net that early.
I wish you would do it for all Metropolis releases, but that's of course not my business.

And you're damn right, Jim is a great guy and the comp supports a great cause ... so please buy this sampler !

    Support your scene !

That's because the release date for any :W: product is an irrelevance, at least in Europe. It's in the shops weeks in advance of the release date.

its a double edged sword. if a band wants press/interviews/reviews out at the time of the release date, the press needs the maaterial early. if an artist like Johan asks that we do not send material early, we don't, and the artists knows that reviews, press ect will not be there right away. a few bands insist we get material to press as early as possible, because they want as much press for the release/tour as possible.

Thanks guys for all your kind words. I love Jim and Johan and I'm gonna marry them some day, so there! :) Anyway, I love how passionate you guys are about this, I just don't want the point of the comp to be forgotton here. Cancer is destroying us as a race. For the past 6 days, a different person has told me that someone they know has cancer. This is upsetting to me and I am hitting the road to educate and inform about how terrible this is. 1 in 2.3 males and 1 in 2.6 females is the new statistic. Something is seriously wrong and it is sad that the majority of the time, chemo and radiation are our only hopes. There has to be a better way.

We've been releasing a handful of tracks from an album (usually 2 - 4 or so) about 2-3 weeks before release. While some people may be sharing these individual tracks on the Soulseeks or whatever - we've avoiding having any Crunch Pod stuff showing up on the "full album" piracy sites until at least a day or so after the release date.

Of course, this basically punishes the DJs and hurts advance promotions for albums as we will not service any journalists now until after the release date - but it's minimized the stuff others on this thread have discussed (ie. everyone seeming to have already heard an unreleased album a month before the street date).

What Johan has said is really slowly coming true - the CD album is dying unless it's a limited edition with tangible (ie. not music discs / files) goods as the "bonus materials".

Our bands tend to move way more physical product at live gigs than we do via our distribution outlets (the few that even remain) these days.

If its something I really want I tend to get the hard copy but if its something I want but all you get is a album picture with nothing inside, I am more inclined to buy digital. Especially if its considerably cheaper.

The reason the CD is dying is because convenience, people aren't buying full albums anymore they are buying individual tracks, and for me sometimes its harder to find the cd copy but digital doesn't sell out or cannot be found.

I don't think it will ever go away completely until they come up with a better way for liner notes and album pictures and whatnot

  12. cancer

    it sucks

i also think it is largely avoidable.

our environment is degrading.. more polution, more toxicity
diets are going to shit..more processed foods, more chemicals
exercise is non existent for most people

live in a clean place, eat real food.. like vegetables, nuts, fruit, lean protien, whole grains, etc, etc. if it comes wrapped in foil or packaged in a cardboard box.. don't fucking eat it

drink water.. yes, the clear flavorless stuff.. drink lots of fucking water

and most of all.. move your fat fucking ass. sweat a little, tubby

sure.. people can do all of that and get cancer. but the numbers of people with cancer would be way lower if the above were the norm and not what people just know they should be doing.. but don't

@ X-Noise - no worries its just a sore topic here, it comes up every few months and it gets heated but for this compilation where all profits are going towards cancer research not the artist at all, that's pretty shitty and makes you (not you but the people who are not actually paying for it at all) a poor excuse for a human being.

A lot of labels offer while you wait for the cd to arrive you get a free download, I wish more people would do this.

  16. I agree with Tsarik - part of the job I do involves at least having a vague idea of the benefits of eating and living well, and conversely, the pitfalls of eating shit and being lazy.
So much of the shit we have in our modern diet, environment and lifestyle in general is absolutely appallingly bad for you. Even down to things like the detergents we use to clean our clothes - all of them contribute very small amounts of toxins and other shit the body can't process or remove, and over time, this massively increases your risk of cancer.
It becomes rather perplexing that more isn't being done to prevent cancer rather than cure it, but then again, if everyone wised up and stopped eating tons of prepackaged shit, microwave meals and fizzy drinks, the world economy would probably collapse, so bah...

    Shots for all !

    @Rogue....

I honestly stopped caring when I heard that in Toronto 6000 deaths A YEAR are due to poor air quality....I mean how can you get around being unhealthy when the air you breath is slowly killing you.

It's actually a documented FACT that theres so much shit in the air that your DNA actually mutates from its original design from birth....no amount of apples will fucking cure that.

  18. @ S80 - Ever the pessimist, aren't you? ;)

Luckily, I live in Scotland, which is relatively unspoiled compared to a lot of the 1st world. Only problem here is people over here like their grease a LITTLE too much!
