lol Scooter....one of the only enjoyable electronic bands out there now.

and only because you know they aren't trying to be all serious or hardcore about it...they just write shit for fun.

  7. Blah blah blah..this is your first post on the forum?? Hmm…what a way to contribute!

At any rate, heres my 2 cents:

While I am not going to be able to make it to the festival, I appreciate the fact that its going on. For YEARS, people would bitch and moan “We don’t have any big shows like they do in Germany”. Then slowly, things started happening like Kinetik, Black Sun, etc. Who gives a shit if its local bands? When the shows happen in Germany, do people from Berlin go “Oh Christ, its fucking yelworC again! Cant they get some Yanks over here to play for once?”.

And heres even crazier stuff: bands that YOU may like and think, “wow, how fucking cool would it be to see yelworC play the USA?” will never ever get the turnout to justify a promoter bringing a band like that over. Are you kidding me? Do you think this is Lady Gaga we’re talking about? Even when Leather Strip played here in the States it wasn’t the super outrageous turnout I think people were expecting it to be (Christ, we'll have thousands at the clubs!).

Honestly, I’d rather have festivals like Triton come around and bring people together then either a) hear people bitch and moan there are shit for shows in States or b) have one or two bands turn up every few years on a tour.

Honestly, who should the festival be getting to play? Euro bands just for the sake of getting Euro bands? The majority of people who would goto the NYC show are probably the same people who took time off and went up to Canada for the Kinetik show. Even working a decent job, I think most people would be hard pressed to shell out cash for another huge festival and take the time off from work for it, regardless of whos playing. Get more obscure or older acts that 10 people on the planet know (HOLY SHIT GUYS: SECOND DISEASE IS PLAYING TRITON!!! Who? SECOND DISEASE!! Who?) and you have even LESS of a turnout.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but for fucks sake man, if you’re not organizing a show yourself make some sense of it all!

At Kinetik I must have been really stupid drunk if I dance to Scooter. Either that or a hot chick was involved.

  11. I don't give a shit if they're false hardcore or not, personally. They still have production chops far superior to almost any scene band in existence.

So this is what it takes to become the Glenn Beck of the Side-Line forum, lol. Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion(s). It just seems to me that if you dare to go against the grain you'll get nothing but flamed. Whether good or bad, you still gotta support it because these people worked really hard to deliever something for you and you better not dare criticize it in any way, shape, or form. If you do, what the fuck do you know? Something is better than nothing so you must respect it and show some sort of approval towards it. Sigh, I guess that's the way it is.

If there's any place in the U.S. that I've been to that at least tries to deliver a mix of everything this scene encompasses is Dracula's Ball in Philly. Few years back they had Qntal play there and didn't they have Corvus Corax or Tanzwut there as well? For fucks sake, I heard a DJ playing that medieval stuff downstairs and I was really surprised. Here you'll get Call The Ships to Port or Gunman or something retro for the sake of keeping the crowd happy. Nothing new could be enjoyed by the crowd because nothing new is given. I don't even like that medieval stuff but at least someone there took a risk and put on something completely different and I could respect that. They attempted to bring in Unheilig last year and fuck I know these people at the club nights here love their Rammstein so why not, at least, try to get Eisbrecher to play? They're signed to Metro and they got the Rammsteinesque sound. Would that be bad for the label and would those same fans not like it? At least it'll be something different. I get that it's a money issues but at the same time more of the same even if it's easier isn't always better. There are good responses in this thread and everyone's opinions are welcomed.

  15. I still don't understand why you feel the need to rip on Harsh Electro and the people who enjoy it. I don't bitch about certain club nights in NYC if I don't like the music that's played. I just don't go. And what good comes out of me ripping on the people that attend those club nights?

And again, what 25 bands would you have tried to book?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  16. I mean, about ten years ago, me and this other guy organized a hardcore event in NYC. We booked people like Edgey doing a live set, and Skinner from Black Monolith Records, and hardcore/gabba DJs and whatnot... It was something I wanted to do because I like that kind of music. So why can't you do an event with the type of music you like?

@heretic I'm not ripping on Harsh Electro. I like Harsh Electro. I'm just saying that my experiences here have brought me to a conclusion that the only things that tend to come out of those speakers is the harsh stuff and or classic hits. I like Covenant just as much as the next person but I don't want to hear their staples all the time. I think that everything deserves to be played, new or classic, harsh or not, but in good moderation. I rarely go solely because of that reason. Not ripping the people who go, just saying there should be a little more variety coming from the djs and or promoters or whatnot.

25 is too many. 10, 15 max. I doesn't matter who I would book. I have my own tastes, you have yours, and everybody else has theirs and I'm fine with that. What you did because you like that kind of music is cool and I respect you for that. Having Edgey do a live set instead of Ayria putting people to sleep, (yeah, I've seen it), would have been cool and different. Met the guy, own the Flawed album and it would be nice to see someone like that get a little more exposure rather than having Deadstar Assembly play. Hell, I'd rather see Terminal Choice if that's the case. I can't do an event because I can't. The VF people can, they have the money, so that's why I expect a little more from them than given.

Who says they have the VF people have the money ? Do you know their bank account balance ? Do you know their assets and liabilities ?

You know something, there was a time when I felt the Montreal scene was a bit like you describe, so I went out and produced my own FM radio show for 2 years where I would play the staples, the anthems, the original and the just plain weird. It brought me to meet some very interesting people gravitating in other circles than ''the scene'', some of which I kept contact with and some I didn't.

Your criticism is healthy and I command you for having the initiative to talk publicly against a situation you despise, but acting to back up your words would help you feel better and make something you could call your own.

  19. I would buy Djtek a fine Belgian ale if I went out anymore. :/
