I saw that video with Jagger and Bowie on VH1 the other day, I'd never heard of it before.
    I was shocked.

@Sumez: in the U.S., that song saturated the radio, every minute, every day for like a fucking year during the 80s. And even worse, you could see it before some movies (forgot which ones) in the theaters.

i had a bit of a sheltered religious upbringing, we had a crappy B&W tv w/ the bunny ears, no cable til i was in highschool, walked uphill both ways. i think the first time i saw it was on a big CRT color TV hanging on the wall @ a Music+ record store. i had no idea why anyone would like that kind of music & it put me off Bowie & The Stones for decades.

...as for the content "cocaine is a helluva drug".
imo, it's not hooky enough to dethrone the roll.

I actually saw this video on a Family Guy episode where they played the whole thing from start to finish (I guess they were out of ideas and needed a filler).

I was equally shocked to see it, I had no idea such thing existed.

And although I always liked the Rolling Stones but wasn't much of a Bowie fan, this video put me off both of them as well.

  16. Both of their discographies are way too massive for any one song to put me off. Also "modern industrial", could use a bit of schooling from David Bowie's song writing...jus sayin. Mumbling vaguely offensive shit through so much FX just grates after a while..

in retrospect as an adult that has ended up being the case. but as a kid with musically unhip parents & since this track was my introduction to them, it was my only off putting frame of reference when they came up as a topic.

I was raised on Bowie so even that song didn't ruin him for me.
'Labryinth' was my favourite movie as a child.

His 'never let me down' album nearly did though. Talk about pure crap.

So this wasa charity song? Was this there way of not telling Bob Geldof no? "Well, let's record a song no one will buy."
