  1. Is anyone watching this? Im kinda surprised no one has mentioned this yet? At any rate, I like it a good deal. I had read the comic when it first started but never kept up with it. The zombies look great in the series!

  5. this show fucking rocks... really i know zombie cinema... not by choice.. my wife fucking loves zombies and has since she was a young girl.... so i've had to sit through every... every... i'm not joiking like every fucking zombie movie ever... and most of them suck... and suck hard

i like horror movies.. i do... but there are some things i can't stomach that my wife seems to love... movies which in my opinion, relish in human suffering just so some badguy can do his thing really turn me off. i've seen too much real human suffering in life to be able to separate the fantasy from the fiction, its just a huge turn off and total borefest... this is weird though because "The Devil's Reject" is one of my most favorite movies ever... but i guess there is so much substance here.. i actually root for the fucking sick and very fucking bad.. bad guys

anyway... the cinemetography in this series is outstanding... you can take still frames from it and if you had an inclination to paint... really want to paint them.. the story is solid.. with an assortment of characters that are so very believable.. and with acting that is amazing

sad to find out that they hedged their bets and didn't do a full first season.. remember when TV seasons were 24 episodes long? yeah.. those where the days... now a season is like 12 episodes... anyway glad they picked it up... man.. fucking A&E must have gotten someone in the upper echelons with some real fucking cahones because with shit like "Breaking Bad" and "The Walking Dead" they took huge fucking chances... and made stellar fucking television... and their other shit that i haven't watched is getting rave reviews too!

anyway.. have to wait for my wife to get home to watch tonight's episode... looking forward to the season finale for this year and then i'll watch em again all the way though without comercials (yay dvr)

    @Tsarik,

I imagine the missus already made you watch 'em, but Lucio Fulci's 'Zombie' and 'The Beyond' are as good as it gets for zombie cinema, imo. The George Romero stuff is good too, of course, but Fulci is the man.

  7. thats funny because i actually introduced here to Lucio Fulchi.. she had pretty much seen everything else.. including the other obscure films that i thought for sure she didn't know about.. not only did she know about them.. but she fucking had a whole slew of Troma shit on VHS

the 2 latest zombie movies that i really liked where "Zombie Strippers" and "Poultry Geist" there are probably a few others worth mentioning but i'm pretty much overdosed on zombie stuff all the time that most of it all blurs into one another

  8. Fucking Poultry Geist lol..guy at my work made me watch that.

My only problem with it is how many more idiot white redneck characters are going to show up. They're either racists, wife-beaters, dumb, or all of the above. Is it possible for minorities to be evil after the apocalypse?

That, and some of the plot developments seem like transparent writing devices to move the story ahead rather than organic. Don't know how close it tracks to the comic though.

The ending tonight was awesome, though.

Saw a theatrical print of 'Dawn of the Dead' recently... and that movie's REALLY good The original, not the remake. Kickass score by The Goblins, and there's a lot of really grim stuff going on throughout the movie.. Think previous VHS (and maybe dvd) versions were heavily censored but also were just really poor quality. It's amazing the difference of having proper sound and a good print can make.

  12. I am really enjoying it. That's surprising because I generally give zombies a pass anymore. I have seen many, many zombie movies and I just don't find them scary. I am liking The Walking Dead., Although I will agree with TBO: the white redneck character thing is getting old. Even Shane, who is sort of a good guy (not a zombie, helped everybody, etc.) and a bad guy ("stole" his partner's family) is a chauvanistic piece of crap. And the main character is FAR too "golden boy" for my taste. He doesn't have one flaw? Come on. That isn't believable.

Besides these minor things the show is pretty good and I have watched every episode so far.

Well it does come from a comic where there has to be a hero. That hero is Rick. If its consistent with the comic you'll see that Rick is far from perfect. If you guys haven't read the comic or just don't read comics, I would make an exception for this one. Robert Kirkman the writer does an excellent job.

i was under the impression they had an affair going on the whole time he wa sin the hospital, but then she got all but hurt about the partner saying he was dead so...
from what i hear it's pretty close to the comic & theres a good sized catalog of that material for them to work with.

in other TV news HBO is doing the fantasy epic 'Game of Thrones' which looks promicing.

  16. Yea well Martin's Game of Thrones is the best fantasy ever written. I'm on pins and needled for that series and like the cast are using. But fucking Martin needs to sit his ass down and finish the series.

I still think the TV series will eventually be a bummer, because of the graphic nature of the comic(and I'm not talking about killing zombies). AMC won't be able to show alot of the stuff that happens. Oh well.

  19. @Ray: Dude, you think the entire world was destroyed in a WEEK? I got the impression he was out WAY longer than that. Like months. How could all that destruction have happened, the military have come and left and everybody be either zombies or just gone in a week?

yeah i get that everything was going on... zombies were already spreading like crazy in the world.
So maybe Shane evacuated his family and maybe generators were still puming life into rick but how long could he last without a nurse keeping an eye out on him. Plus when he was revived his gun shot wound was somewhat recent when the father and son were asking about it. So maybe not a week...3 weeks? a month maybe?

Anywayz what everyone think about tonights episode?
