Is an exercise in exquisite design. So well thought out, so functional, so subdued and so very very Alan. Oh, and the content isn't half bad, either.

  2. I could not find any pics of it online, I assume you got the one from the Mute Bank? You mind taking some shots of it?

I did find the artists site on it: http://www.oiboydesigns.com/index.php?/this-is-it/recoil---selected/

Just wondering how it translates to packaging.

96 Pounds well spent I say, the photography in the oversize booklets is simply amazing. I was leafing through them and I swear I could hear my girlfriend swooning, the cd enclosures are done in such a way that I have not seen before; the remix disc is one hell of a ride, I will say that much. Even though some have been available on the singles previously, how many people buy Recoil singles?

The dvd contains numerous visuals, some of which I assume have been used for the live shows but there are many I had not seen before, even though I own the cd/dvd version of Subhuman which contains all of Recoil's clips.

And as for that mysterious third disc, I really feel sorry for anyone who held back and did not get this version of Selected as it's seriously badass. Alan Wilder and PK are to be commended for the incredible work contained on it. It's a live mix, yes, but no one else has pulled one off at the level this pair did.

The credit lists contain one name which I am not surprised to see:

    Daniel Meier

    And one which stunned me:

    Jurgen Jansen

If anyone knows the connection between Recoil and this member of Pitchfork (assuming it is him) do share.

Alan signed all copies in a gold script pen which when contrasted with the black paper and white text is eye-catching to say the least. Only he would think to underpin it all with one single thin green line.

No doubt, there will be copies showing on ebay and discogs at some point (the members of Shunt can be a devious lot at times) for outrageous sums. Otherwise, like the song says: you'd better pray, boy pray.

I read that Architect will be opening at the portland show on 19/10. Is this correct? The venue for this show is perfect for what Recoil have been doing live. Cannot wait for the tickets to go on sale.

yes, thats correct. need to figure out a good way to present the new material live. is this a big venue? do they have good lowend speakers? I use a lot of sub bass lately...

It's a theater of sorts, mostly seated although there is a large open area in front of the stage. Their speakers and PA in general are excellent. I recently saw Johann Johannsson there and it was note perfect. He also uses a lot of sub bass.

There's a balcony up top which can seat around 150, the main floor/standing area could easily accomodate 3-400.

Overall, it should work well for what you've planned, the stage is spacious. Plenty of room for those projections we know are coming. If you're planning to have a tour only disc of this new work, that'd be ace. I'll have a pen and my Back to Business 12" along to add to all the others works I own of yours which you have signed.

This is the first time I've seen Architect live, generally I have read about your shows via the planet Myer days you've put on. To say my better half is excited about this would be putting it mildly. Bring it on, Maestro!

Conjure One are opening in LA and you're goddamned right this is going to be a great show. Myer's bringing it, PK and Alan are definitely bringing it so only one thing could eclipse it all:

A new Haujobb album this year. How's about it, boys?

She's on for a couple songs, the ones she did on Liquid. It was a happy day when we ran her name-dropping prima dona ass off of Shunt. Such a coat-tail rider. Unsurprising that you're asking about her.

It was great to see her as a special guest for the New York Recoil event a few months ago. Too bad Douglas couldn't make it.
