  1. Hey guys, just a quick and crass plug for my EBM project The .invalid.

Just released my first demo over on Bandcamp. Feel free to download, share, and of course, give me an utter critical savaging on here :)

I'd love to hear what you guys think!

    Cheers!

  2. wow, Elton John never sounded so good before man!

But really, I like it. For me, it has a strong Imperative Reaction feel to it. I dont make music so I cant comment on keyboard particulars but I like the vocals, music, etc. Dunno if the IR similarity is just me or intended but its good!

  3. Great man, I will listen to it today at work and get you some feedback. You should post this in the tech forum too though under the "Bring the Noise", thread.

  4. @ Seraphin - Glad you're enjoying it dude! Yeah, IR were one of the first EBM acts I got into in a really big way, so I think their sound's probably rubbed off on me a fair bit :)

@ Michael - Yeah, feedback is always appreciated. Bear in mind I've not had a chance to re-record the vocals, so the old pitch-problems persist to an extent, unfortunately. But yeah, looking back on it now I think I may have pushed the kickdrum a bit too hard on Quantify, may go back and amend stuff briefly (fuck, I LOVE digital distribution ;D ).
But aye, I'll post over on the tech forum as well :)

I'll give it a listen at some point. I'm quite busy at the moment. Thanks for making it available though. I dig your tracks on Soundcloud.

@ RP I know you have seen it already but I provided some critique in the other forum. I don't like to do that very much because folks tend to take my criticisms wrong most of the time. Just to be clear I did enjoy the material very much. I'm a cranky old fuck so don't get hung up on where I found issue. Keep doing what you do because it is inspired work.

Giving it a listen right now. Musically, the tracks bare a strong resemblance to Combichrist and Suicide Commando, but your lyrics are a lot less stupid.

It's solid state-of-the-art electro-EBM every bit as good as the bands I mentioned. The chorus on "Quantify" is a little strange to me but everything sounds like you should have been signed years ago.

This is too good to let people download IMO.

Now go get your ass signed to Metropolis! And whatever you do, don't go making lame videos. Keep it smart.

I disagree. I know I can still improve this stuff a LOT. In particular my vocals. I mean I'm happy enough with it that I really don't mind people sharing this, but one thing I can guarantee is that if/when I eventually do release something commercially, it will be an improvement, especially on the vocal front.

I'm really glad you're liking it though. That's especially cool coming from someone who's been producing a hell of a lot longer than I have :)

    "Keep it smart."
Haha, well I have no intention of singing about cocaine and blowjobs if that's what you mean :P

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think the vocals work. I really like the vocals during the verses. They somehow remind me of Gary from Mentallo meets NCC (if you know anything about those bands). I think the vocals on the chorus are a little out of key but hey, I'm not one to complain. I can't sing in key during any part of a song and to tell you the truth, it sort of works for you.

I'm not much of technician when it comes to music so I have to say that I am in awe of your clearly meticulous engineering. Damn solid stuff.

I think there are signed artists who don't do what you do as well as you do (whoa, I'm channeling Louis Carrol here).

Seriously, I'm very impressed with how much you have improved on these tracks since the first time I heard them. Very professional and solid. I liked them then, I love them now!

Unfortunately, I have to agree about them vocals. They aren't bad but they are out of key sometimes and overall I think they let down the rest of the track as a whole. I'm sure though that when you get them like you want them they'll be awesome. Keep it up buddy!

The .invalid - Rogue Process - Seamus:

I do agree with you that a bit more polish on the vox would be good, but overall: nice production, composition, etc.

very nice man, I like it.

The vocals are spot on I think. Unless you want to be an autotuned bitch then keep em how they are. (I think this is the thread I missed!)

Would say that the whole mix could do with a bit more spacing out if I had to be ridiculously critical and banal, but seriously, awesome awesome work. Much better than most of the crowd seem to be putting out in terms of aggression and rhythm!

  16. Seriously, I've been kind of taken aback about how positive the response has been so far, thanks a lot guys :)

@ Undercult - I know those vocals can be improved. Not gonna autotune them any more than they are, but I just need to work on my singing voice (which rather ironically IMO is a lot more fun and rewarding than autotuning :D )

Well if you say so, I think it fits perfectly with your music, I think perhaps if you could incorporate different styles of singing that would be good, but its industrial, you don't need to be a great singer, just passionate!

    Posted 1 year ago #
  18. I want to be proficient AND passionate!
