  1. Of course it did not start here - it's been going on far longer than this, little by little - but we have to start SOMEWHERE and we will start with The Patriot Act. Then came the National Defense Authorization Act. Now comes this: The Enemy Expatriation Act. Now not only can you be classified a domestic terrorist for participating in a sit-in or other forms of Constitutionally-protected protest (The Patriot Act) and be detained for it indefinitely after the military kicks in your door and arrests you (The NDAA), you can also be stripped of your American citizenship (The Enemy Expatriation Act).

There is a link to the bill [H.R. 3166] in that article.

One or two more pieces of legislation and we will have virtually no rights as American citizens.

  4. And trust me, next time we have another (*cough* suspiciously convenient *cough*) 9/11 like event, it will be bye bye all our rights. And all the spineless clueless liberals will be going "hey, I thought Obama and the Democrats were better than the Republicans".

Remember the "underwear" bomber? Boy, did the government sure had those TSA nude radiation scanners ready to go. Can you imagine a terror attack that actually went live? Of course people like me would be labeled vile traitorous conspiracy theorists even by fellow liberals for pointing out that even the media reports that the plot involved FBI informants and moles.

  5. @mecha: I agree, people really need to wake up. There IS no two party system. No one party is responsible for this shit. It is the entire government. And of course we have SOPA too, which is supposedly for piracy but which if you read the bill can shut down ANY website that the government feels "endangers public health." That is rather vague, isn't it? I would think they can place pretty much anything under that category when you get right down to it. People are protesting censorship today (myself included) but when you think about it, it ISN'T censorship. Not exactly. It is a blatant power-grab. The censorship part of it - while still very important - is secondary to that. This is them now saying "We control everything. We control the iformation and you will have what we want you to have." Our media does not report things like this here. If ANYBODY is talking about this here, I would be very surprised. If they then cut us off from other news outlets in other countries or "alternative" news sources, we truly WILL be in the dark. That is of course what they want.

  6. Well the government talks tough about Syria and other countries who censor the internet, yet we're on the cusp of the same thing here. I mean the Wikileaks thing alone shows this slippery slope. Obama has already either signed off on or indicated he'll sign off on internet kill switch bills under the false auspices of "stopping terrorism". The government can get away with anything under the guise of "preventing terrorist activity". I find it funny that all these hip trendy companies are supporting the anti SOPA movement, since some of them are increasing becoming part of this corporate-government big brother synergy. Look how these smart phones can track and record your every move...and people are voluntarily becoming part of this borg.
