  1. This awesome band hailing from Sheffield was one of the most influential electro/industrial bands EVER! What's your fave Cabs album(s)?

It's REALLY hard to pick one: The Voice of America, Red Mecca, Hai, The Crackdown, Micro-Phonies & Plasticity (to name a few) are astoundingly good, but my vote goes to their most accessible album "The Covenant, The Sword And The Arm Of The Lord".

As a lot of my favourite tracks are earlier singles such as 'Nag Nag Nag', 'Seconds Too Late' and 'Silent Command', I would choose 'The Living Legends', but for 'proper' albums it would be 'The Voice of America' for the early period and 'The Crackdown' for the later period.

By 'The Drain Train' I was having serious misgivings about their output, and with 'Code' I stopped buying, apart from an ill-considered purchase of 'Body and Soul' some time later.

Red Mecca and Voice of America for the early years. The Covenant... for the middle period.

I think The Conversation is actually a pretty good release, but it probably shouldn't be under the CV moniker.

CV's reworking of the Tivoli album is tremendous. came out a few months back!!!!!

I like "The Covenant......" album the best, but it is hard to choose. "Code" is right up there for me as well. I am a big fan of the "Don't Argue" 12"

"International Language" is cool listen for the 90's. "

I fucking LOVE that song! I always consider "Code" to be one of the Top 10 releases in the electronic category period!

I like everything up to 2X45. My favorite album is Live at the Lyceum.

Has all the great tunes and to me the sound is better than the originals.

Anyway, i am a big Cabaret Voltaire fan, and i still have loads of vinyls from the lads. From a time when industrial was incorporated with funk. Something i would like to see more in current industrial.

    MOAR PHUNK!

  12. The Cabs were great at every stage, but for different reasons. To me, that is the point of their lasting appeal: that whichever era you look at, they had something interesting to offer. From the punk and found sound classics (like "Sex in Secret" as well as the older tracks mentioned above), through the electro-funk of the early-to-mid 80s, the Adrian Sherwood years, even the Marshall Jefferson period (as sell-outs go, I'd argue "Groovy, Laid Back and Nasty" had merit as a unique, club-friendly variation on the Cabs' sound), thence into more stripped down electro purist territory (e.g. the "Colours" ep, "What is real?" and subsequent works). They were innovators all along, and that's why each period of their output has fans (not always the same ones, admittedly...). Me, I like all of their records, just depending on what sort of mood I'm in. They're one of very few bands that have such a wide and varied back catalogue, and could teach a lot of us about how to be bold and progressive, taking risks with a new sound every once in a while.

A Debt Management Plan (Debt Management Program) unlike debt settlement is an informal debt help arrangement between you and your creditors. It lets you repay your debts with one affordable monthly payment. The Debt Management Plan consolidates all your unsecured credit such as loans, credit cards, store cards, catalogues and overdrafts into that one payment without the need to borrow any more money.

Cabaret Voltaire's legacy as the inventors of "drop forge funk" seems all but lost these days. People mention them as an influence, but even modern Sheffield bands lack funk.
