Not many Electro-bands can look back upon a quarter of a century of existence and numerous timeless club anthems and still be going strong as hell! Suicide Commando are not only celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, they are also one of the rare acts that can rightfully claim pioneering an entire genre! In the light of this special birthday, the “godfathers of Harsh Electro” are releasing a special 6-CD-box set titled “The Suicide Sessions.” It contains the band’s classic first three studio albums, “Critical Stage”, “Stored Images” and “Contruct-Deconstruct”, all of them receiving a shining sonic overhaul via a bone-shaking remaster from the original master tapes, plus new artwork. “The Suicide Sessions” also sports three companion CDs full of B-sides, as well as rare and previously unreleased material from these early years. Join the group on this insightful trip into the past, rediscover classic anthems like “See You In Hell”, “Save Me” or “Better Off Dead” and delve into heaps of undiscovered or lost gems. A must-have for fans and the perfect celebration of the anniversary of one of the most influential groups in harder electronic music!

    HI !

This is all the SC you need anyway, Aside from Chromdioxyde. Everything after 2000 was one long club anthem that all sounded alike.

I don't have the 'Stored Images' or 'Critical Stage' albums. And it looks like a fair amount of stuff from the old tapes, which I used to own a couple of those. So I should pick it up.

I'll be interested to hear what people think of the remasters of those old albums, because it seems like last time when 'Chromdioxyde' came out a lot of people were saying that they didn't like the changes done with the remaster.

    HI !

I think it just should have been mentioned in the linernotes of Chromdioxyde just how much work was done to those old songs. They weren't just remastered, they sound completely rewritten and recorded. Personally I like Chromdioxyde a lot. It's not all golden, some of it is boring, but Close Your Eyes, Never Get Out, and Rejection are standout tracks.

I have a much bigger problem with the "remastering" done on :W:'s Blutkind. Everything sounds flat.

well i just bought the Critical Stage/Stored Images 2 cd pack at Kinetik recently. its just weird that a month later, im dropping more $ on remastered versions of both. and yes, its really the bonus discs that made buy it again.

I'd rather see the fourth cd referred to as 'Contamination' rather than as a bonus cd.

  11. To be honest, I stopped buying Suicide Comando releases for the same reason as dissecting`s argument.

The old classics (great albums) remastered/polished? I am thinking about it...

  12. @defaultet and dissecting: really don't know anything about a lot of people complaining about the "chromdioxyde" remaster ? I know I'm getting old, but it's the first thing I hear about it. "chromdioxyde" wasn't even a remaster, it was a collection of old and previously unreleased demo takes, it had nothing to do with a remaster or reworked songs ???

You also won't find any re-worked versions on "the suicide sessions", it's all old material remastered, no remixed or reworked versions ...

Thought I'd just make that clear.

    Johan,

The criticism of ‘Chromoxide’ when it came out (as I remember) was that some people thought you had somehow polished those old songs and made them less “old school”. I’m not sure how really, but I remember that was a criticism. I don’t have the old tapes to compare to anyway, although I used to own a couple of them.

Hmm, any chance of reissuing the old tapes in some limited format, like maybe 100 per tape? I think it’d be really cool to own the original tape releases, but I think most of them are far too expensive for the average fan these days. Anyway, just an idea. Look forward to this new box set, think I’ll have to get for sure.

  17. I think that this one will be on my next ordering list. Cannot stand the idea having the old great albums remastered. As for new SC releases I have to say that it is not my cup of tea anymore. But that is just me.

  18. @defaultet: Like I said, that criticism never reached my ears, so I was quite surprised to read your post here.

Reissuing the old tapes is a cool idea actually as I'm still getting requests like this pretty often, but meanwhile a lot of that old material already has been re-used in some way, my first album "critical stage" in a way was already some sort of "best of" from the latest demo tapes, then there was the limited "contamination" bonus disc including old demo material, there was the "chromdioxyde 1" compilation and now some more songs are reissued on "the suicide sessions" ...
But I'll think about it ...

And to all who gave up on suicide commando after "mindstrip", fair with me, everybody their own opinion, but I think it's a bit of shame as especially "implements of hell" goes back to my roots again on several songs.

Personally I still love the old works, but I also love what I did in the last few years, I just always did the music I wanted to do. Guess you can't really blame me for that, can you ?

i got into SC around Mindstrip and love everything after. i have a harder time getting into albums before that. usually when im in an SC mood, there are so many great recent albums, I never really think about listening to anything pre-Mindstrip. maybe by ordering this big ass 6-cd boxset will help me get into the older stuff alot more once it arrives.
