  1. So I was just watching a youtube video of ClockDVA live at Wave Gotik. The live performance looked awesome. Looked like a giant 3-D cube they were in with pictures and stuff all over it. Kinda like something out of Star Trek.

But on the downside, were there NO vocals on ANY songs?? I didn’t hear anything except The Hacker; everything else was instrumental? Sounded like a few new tracks that are awesome btw, but all the old stuff had no vox at all. Was that the deal or is it just a crappy recording I heard????

I was there. And so was David (Snarf) because he was with us when we went to see this. The show was a huge dissapointment. This was a bit what i had expected. It either was going to be great or it would be pretty bad. It was the latter.

The Cube looked great, but because of the low position on the ground it was not good visible. Another problem was the band used surround sounds. This might have sounded like an awesome idea, but it resulted into a very fragmented hearing. Where we were standing we could mainly hear some cymbals and synths and no bass. We heard some sound going around, which would have been cool is the sound was good. I am not sure if there where any new tracks. The tracks they played which where known (The Hacker, Sound mirror, NYC overload) were barely recognisable, so i am in doubt they played any new work. I listened the first three songs which sounded new to me, but they could very well be tracks from Digital Soundtracks. I did hear some familiar sounds in those, so might be it. I went back later and they played the songs i just mentioned.

All in all it was a big let down for me. David seem to have liked it, so i guess he shares his side soon.

Before the show i talked with Udo Weissman, and he had seen Clock DVA before, and he told me they were never a good live band, so......

I was so disappointed. They were one of the acts that convinced me to go back to WGT again this year. I think the cube was cool but the sound(particularly the bass) was not loud enough. I thought maybe it was the venue(which looked incredibly awesome but tricky). It was in the Pantheon. However, the next day I saw Lustmord and Chris and Cosey there at the same place which was loud as FUCK so I don't think that was the issue.

The show was just a little boring. I think it worked more for The Anti Group Company. Not so much for Clock DVA. I would have even enjoyed it more if they had live guitars or drums and went that direction. Or even just updated their sound like C&C.

  7. Just watched some of the vids. Really sucked. Why does Adi feel the need to destroy great songs live? It is one thing to mess with the structure but only to make it more interesting. He always sucks the life out of them. I have the one live cd and was crushed to see him ruin Fractalize. There was no trace of the song I loved. Same here. Never thought The Hacker could be so boring.
