  1. Hi guys, it's been a while. I just wanted to come on here and mention that I have a new project called SUDDEN DEATH OVER TIME. While it's not in the Industrial genre, perhaps some of you could appreciate it. The music is influenced by Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, and 80's dark wave music with a dash of modern electronics. I have just finished the songs for the first self-titled LP that you can listen to via my MySpace page at: http://www.myspace.com/suddendeathovertime

The first release will be on vinyl LP and through the digital domain (eg. iTunes). The tracks are all instrumental. Guest vocals are in the works. You'd be surprised who's interested. Cheers!

I like this much more than Glis. You know, I´m not so much into that electro things.
    So continue!

Wow. This is great! It reminds of the now inactive Canadian project Droom; they started off doing synthpop and morphed into the kind of music you're doing now on their last two albums. Their stuff has vocals, though, but this does has a lot of atmosphere in it. There are a couple of old Glis elements hiding here and there, too.

    Well done, Shaun.

"Blue Sky Night" is a well done track, it's very functional as an instrumental.
I would like to hear more of this happening, This is something I would expect on a CD.
I don't know why it shares the same page with these other tracks. I'd probably not risk ruining a good track with vocals that just don't fit yet trying to force them
    ..right.

"Phoenix" might be cool reworked to something with a less monotonous bassline.

"Honeymoon in Manchester" could use some vocals and perhaps another part in which something interesting happens such as a buildup/breakdown/chorus/verse.

"Summertide" sounds like a straight rip from new order's "Ceremony" and that was
somewhat of off-putting, especially considering the fact they are mentioned
everywhere. The organ is cheesy as hell too, guess it made sense at the time.

Overall I think they are sort of samey, mostly because of the guitar.
I enjoy being able to differentiate one track from another.

Don't try to copy others, do your own thing.

  9. I've heard too much of this kind of music in my time to be really impressed and interested, but it's definitely good, and much better than anything I remember hearing from Glis!

  10. Sounds like it has more depth than Combichrist. It didn't really hold my interest, but I will admit that it is well done and that I would be happy with myself if I had wrote those songs.

  11. The music is really good, but sounds a little empty without vocals. But you said that vocals are going to be added, correct? It's not really my type of music, but it's definitely quality.

  12. I've been trying to form an opinion on this for a wee bit now, as it's certainly well-done, it's just so far away from what I usually listen to that I don't know what to make of it at all. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just taking a lot of getting used to.

I do like the tracks that combine the more electronic and dance-influenced sounds you did with Glis, with that floaty guitar sound - Take It This Far is my fave track up there. The other tracks which place less emphasis on the electronics do not interest me much though, as they just seem to be rather too derivative of bands like Interpol and Glasvegas.

Anyway, that's my generic two cents, not like you even asked for opinions on it :P

  14. Thanks for taking a listen everyone. The 8 tracks will remain the same for the first digital release and the 12" vinyl LP. No vocals. In the future, I plan having them, but for now, I like how everything sounds. Thank you for the encouragement, and for taking the time to review the tracks. I'm very happy doing this project. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. It's like starting all over again. I created a YouTube channel for SDOT which will have higher quality audio than on MySpace. Since "Blue Sky Night" has been a favorite, I made a still-video for it:

  17. THIS FREAKING ROCKS! Takes me back to the early 90's when I used to obsessively tape every 120 minutes and Alt Nation episode on MTV. Is it wrong listening to these tracks gives me more of a rush than most of the newer stuff I've heard from the EBM scene?

For the last few years Ive pretty much eaten up any band that has that post punk Joy Division sound, or any band that sounds even remotely like Talking Heads and They Might Be Giants(LCD Soundsystem, I love ya!)

I LOVE basslines like on "Take It This Far", really good stuff.

That *said*, as much as Im a big fan of jangly post punk shoegazer college rock stuff...Im kind of wishing there was vocals. As in my mind almost is placing phantom vocals where I think they would go.

Tho thats the cool thing too...we can all come up with our own baritone late 70's british vocals and melancholy lyrics:) I seriously love this sound, but Im curious why the decision to go instrumental? Or am I too stuck on a tried and true cliche format?

  18. Ugh, silly me...I just noticed Shaun said there will be guest vocals. I still think Shaun should sing:)
