Howard Jones plays with one about half way down the page.

i think there's some continued marketing sacrelige as Roland has done with the recent Juno & Sh models, but the thing doesn't sound bad. I doubt people would be bitching if it were called something else.

  2. all models of things change.. the name isn't important. my impala today sucks compared to the impalas of yesteryear .. but i still love it and drive the fuck out of it

the jupiter 80 is aimed at the largest demographic of the keyboard buying market. i would love to have one.. but my skills at playing and getting all that expressive nuance that this synth will offer don't warrant me purchasing one.. and at the price of this i think i'd have to research other offerings like the Korg Kronos or something from Kurzweil

so i'll continue to acquire the more knob laden, switch covered, and sometimes patchable variety

  3. Ehh, would much rather a V-Synth. Looks kind of cool, but not all that appealing to me, and especially not for the stupid high price they're asking.

That photoshop satire is truthful as it is funny. Is that Donkey Kong on the screen?
everything is rehash now from movies to music to cars and styles. Snore....

@hollowman: it's Angry Birds. (phone app of the year)

looks like a jab at the smart-phone-esque touch screen interface.

@soillodge: no clue. it appears to be 4 keys short. i'm guessing it was the easiest way to piggyback on what many would consider the companies greatest achievement.

    Why Jupiter?

  9. I get Jupiter, that is just a marketing ploy. But I still don't get why the 80. Why not have a new alpha numeric config. Or maybe choose another planet. The Roland Uranus 69! Total marketing win.

I'll be waiting here for the congratulatory hiring call to their promotional dept.

i think if the new one was black & aqua & they put the word "Super" out front the mob would disperse.
