  1. I loved this short-lived British "retro electro" act. Anybody else here get into them? They broke up in 2003 or so. This was a band that I saw their CD in the electronic section of a mall's CD store and bought on a whim... I just found three of their CDs in a cardboard box and I haven't listened to them in YEARS.

I actually was lucky enough to see them perform live in Toronto in 2001 and it was really wild! About as punk rock as a show like that could get honestly. It was amazing how much this band rocked my world when I was listening to straight up VNV and Apop at the time - they came on with "Brothel Charge" and it was like being at a Black Flag concert with a theremin being waved into the crowd.

The Barry 7 compilations (Barry 7's Connectors #1 and #2) are great too. I wonder whatever happened to these guys after they broke up.

Discovered them just about the time when they broke up, thanks to the track "Plug it in" that you linked above. I could be wrong, but it sounds like an obvious homage to Gary Numan? (whom I was also digging a lot at that time)

Here's one of my favourite tracks by them:

Sounds like Juno Reactor meeting Massive Attack, not a bad mix.

  4. Man, I LOVED Add N to (X). The first time I heard Black Regent [On The Wires of our Nerves] I was just floored. I found the LP at Best Buy, the cover art was blacked out as explicit. I thought, this HAS to be the cool new shit. The cover turned out to be some people stuffing a monosynth into a girls guts. Awesome.

Avante Hard was also a great album.

I read that when they broke up they went on to do other projects and start a couple record labels. No idea what they are doing now.

The cover is actually portraying a caesarian. The birth of the Moog Rogue. ;-)

But Add N To X were brilliant. Vero Electronics is a great album. Still need to get some of their singles.

  6. AH! That makes more sense. Back then I was just like "gore and synths"! Hellz yes!

I wonder if Add N to X is one of those bands no one dislikes.
