this sucks
but should be expected.
what is more likely to happen... and end to human greed and possible utopia? .... or the dystopian police state that has long been known to be on its way... just look at how many camereas are around cities now...
but it is of small concern.. websites in their entirety can be replicated in a few days... thankfully technology is always once step ahead... hopefully people continue to pursue greater knowledge and fight their dictators though... though we may be stripped of the possibility for both
the overlords are taking a more 'hands on' approach.
even soundcloud could be in danger, according to this report:

land of the free!
If they take away my SoundCloud, I will punch America IN THE FACE. That is all.
im closer to just packin' my duffel bag. arming myself to the teeth and living off human refuse. you know, like a raccoon with a gun.
I keep trying to tell people. Nobody wants to listen. Everybody thinks it's just no big deal, it's a tin foil hat conspiracy, it's paranoia, it's [blank]-wing drama, the government knows best.
We will see, won't we?
USA to World: Suck it
Just more tyranny from Lord Obama the evil communist overlord of The United States.
Change I never wanted to beLIEve in =D
I know I'm going to be called a fascist but it really bothers me that much of the stuff on Soundcloud is remixes of popular songs or simply just the songs themselves in a compilation form. Seriously people, stop giving away other people's songs! Even if you 'remixed' them, they are not yours unless the original author signed something that states otherwise.
I love Soundcloud when I can find an amateur musician whose music I like. I don't like wading through lame remixes to find those.
As long as the US politicians are in the pockets of the corporations, nothing will change.
For more background on this, I recommend the "Censorship of the Internet Takes Center Stage in "Online Infringement" article from the EFF:

COICA is a very dangerous bill, and should be stopped. Even if you agree with the government's actions on this matter in theory (they had a warrant, so at the very least, no 4th amendment violations occurred), we should realize that it doesn't actually work very well:
"And what do we get in exchange? Not much, if the goal is to actually limit unauthorized copying online. The bill gives the government power to play an endless game of whack-a-mole, blocking one domain after another, but even a relatively unsophisticated technologist can begin to imagine the workarounds: a return to encrypted peer-to-peer, modified /etc/hosts files (that don't rely on the domain name system for finding things on the Internet), and other tools, which will emerge and ensure that committed pirates have a way to route around the bill's damage to the DNS system."
Like the new TSA policy, we get policy overreach without the results we're trading off for. Just like patting people down isn't going to detect bombs that someone has swallowed, neither will seizing domains stop copyright infringement. Even the "it will drive it underground" theory is unsupportable here; the tools for doing these things are so simple that a one-armed monkey can install and operate them. We're a long way from the "Home Taping Is Killing Music" era.

i still blame all this on DAT machines.
