$18 incl. shipping for a new release is overpriced?!
Posted 1 year ago # -
It really depends on the release. Their Ministry and RevCo CDs go up to $25 + shipping, for ones easily found in normal stores for under $20. Those seem to be the anomalies, though.

But having dealt with about all distros that carry EBM except FiXT, I can say that I NEVER had a mishap, late shipping, missing item etc... Jeremy even corrects for me when I mistakenly order the same item twice.
Getting good, reliable, fast and professional service is not overpriced, trust me.

Wow CDs in a physical store for under $20? You guys live in a magical wonderland.

Yeah, I bought the last RevCo album at HMV for about $17 the day it came out. I very rarely have any difficulty finding Jourgensen's projects in stores, I don't believe he is that obscure. Where do you live, Sumez?

Stores that still carry CDs have them all below 20$ in Canada, unless it's a limited edition or something...
Is there possibly a country mora taxed than Canada ?

Or he could be referring to a currency with a dollar worth substantially less than ours. $35 in Barbados is equivalent to around $18 in Canada, for example. Though I kind of doubt you can buy industrial CDs in Barbados.

I don't think I've ever seen a country selling new CDs CHEAPER than that. Or lower taxes on purchases for that matter. Have you even tried buying CDs anywhere else? :P
Any new pop CD here costs $27, limited editions are $31. I'm glad industrial/ebm CDs aren't in the same league.Danish prices: http://fona.dk/default.aspx?m=2&i=63

Again I can't say enough good things about this guy Jeremy of Storming The Base. If you hate big impersonal outfits with automated telephone menus and shitty service then order a few CD's from Jeremy and you'll be pleasantly surprised. He answers all my emails promptly and seems to basically stock everything in the Industrial genre and then some. It takes roughly 4 days to ship from Toronto all the way over to my pad in Bumfuck, Oregon so I can see orders getting to a lot your guys houses much quicker. One CD costs $4.73 to ship but he said the more you order the less the shipping is. Here is his email:

Comparative to cop:
SAM - Brainwasher COP:16.99 / Storming:20.90
Project Pitchfork - Dream, Tiresias! COP:12.99 / Storming:17.10
Absurd Minds - Serve Or Suffer [US Edition] COP:13.99 / Storming:13.30I can probably give hundred more examples. Also, Cop does free shipping on over a 100 $ order. I posted the price for Absurd Minds to show that their prices on own releases are not that much cheaper than Cop. The Fact is cds are too expensive and when you can buy it second hand for a 1/3 of the price. Record stores do not make much on sales per cd and I really don't know how they keep afloat. I still won't put cash into buying Mp3's.

I'll have to give COP a try then. I wasn't trying to talk anyone else down I'm just saying how cool this one guy is to me. Just out of curiousity when you deal with COP can you do phone orders and talk to the same person everytime?
Second hand is great until you start thinking about why its second hand in the first place. Its cause someone bought it, ripped it and then sold it back to the shop. Then when the next person purchases that used CD for a 1/3 of the price the artist just lost a new sale... just saying...
That said, everyone including myself buys them but for me its usually as a last choice like an Ant-Zen comp or something that is out of print. Having an extensive CD collection makes me feel good, similar to Imelda Marcos and her shoe collection I'm sure...
