had the v1 of the cyclebox for 2 months and sold it for a v2. i love eurorack! this thing just begs to be fed synced control voltages and played with in a jam state. i had this pretty wicked drum sequence and had familiarized myself enough with the cyclebox to just let loose on it and came up with:

no effects on the cyclebox except a small bit of eq (drums are waaaay effected/glitched up). all in a single take: one note, an lfo, and the rest is real-time knob twiddling and switch flipping which fell together in such a correct way, I'm so glad I was recording at the time.

  2. sounds interesting... i really enjoy gear demos... no idea what the cycle box is.. but now i have to go read up on it

sounds like different percussion sounds... what do you mean by 1 note? is it the same sound that is making all the other sounds?

also.. since i assume you don't use tape.. i'd like to but more as an effect i wouldn't go entirely digital.... but since i don't use tape.. i'm always in DAW recording whenever i'm just making drones or fucking around experimenting... because... analog gear is magical.. a slight twist of this knob... a feedback path here and a flip of this switch... and you're hearing something you've never heard before... infinitely rewarding

  3. Ah! That sounds really wicked. A lot of ideas to work with there. The demo you put up is interesting as well. I can imagine doing a set of really long drone tracks with slow changes. I love to hear sounds just get modulated and mangled like that.

the cyclebox is a eurorack module with built self modulation (fm, sync, wave folding logic functions, etc) between it's 2 main osc and it's sub osc. it comes in after measure 4 and is responsible for the droning sounds, everything other than the drums. I piped a synced lfo to it and was just holding one note down and tweaking knob and switches.

yeah, I was about to refer you to that video due to you wanting slow sweep examples :)

  6. Still, that guy is not a musican-or he isn't trying very hard. I want to hear this more in application. I Parasite did some tracks on soundcloud with his modular and some long sweeping drones. I made a whole track out of that experiment.

ah, it wasn't clear in my head exactly what you wanted.

"that guy" lol is the engineer who designed and built the cyclebox, he also teaches electronic engineering in canada. the point of that vid was to demonstrate the differences between v1 and 2 of the module.

I can work on some long sweeping drones with it and swing them out for you and others to mess with if you want :)

  8. Yeah I assumed he was some kind of tech. Not being disrespectful exactly..lol I just want to hear this more in application. And I am not about to build a modular system, I am pretty happy with the gear I have and my capabilities. But I love to hear people messing with this kind of stuff, and then use to make a song that stands by itself. We do this a lot via SubSpine. I make a lot of stuff when Tsarik does his audio doodles/sound designing.

So that is all I am saying really, if you want to do some audio figeting with gradual sweeps a lont with hard cuts and then toss that up on SubSpine, I would be very interested in working on it. The things sounds killer.
