  3. But seriously, I honestly think a lot of what I've listed (Bruce Springsteen notwithstanding) is just a hell of a lot more forward-thinking and interesting than that "Mondkopf" or whatever it was called.

    "this video contains content from UMG. it is restricted from playback on certain sites."

    @rogue process
    "this video contains content from sony music entertainment. it is no longer available in your country."

    looks like the old entertainment industry is still keeping on digging its own grave (and yeah, that mondkopf stuff is pretty boring).

    Very cool music. Gripping and interesting. Do not like the vocals at all. I would have attempting more personal and clear to contrast with the space and distance of the music.

  10. ooooh! Maybe now is a good time for you guys to comment on my Chinese Sheetrock project
    http://www.myspace.com/chinesesheetrock

    Be brutally honest! I can take it :D And This is an experiment so any feedback will help me improve it.

    Besides "needs vocals", I realize that and I am searching for a good fit.

  11. @ Michael - Although it isn't quite my thing, what I've heard of the Chinese Sheetrock has had a real groove to it. Really like that off-kilter dubstep-styled wobble bass in demo 1, and some of the wonkier sounding drum patterns are pretty cool, too.

    As for We Butter The Bread With Butter - Umm, okaaaaaaayyyy... I must admit I could only listen to about 20 seconds of that. And the compression over the track is fucking horrible.

    @michael-

    The modulated "wa-wa-wa" sound kind of bugs me on demo 1, but I dig where it breaks down (~1:30). The straying synths that come in later are really different. Overall, it reminds me a little of the 8bit stuff that Cevin Key has been pushing with some of those new younger acts on SubCon. But then it also has something of a late 80s Axodry/Technodrome feel at times.

    Demo 3 reminds me a little of Ionic Vision or some of the old school EBM acts; even Early Boy Records stuff. Polished off a bit (and yes, with some vox/samples), I'd think Nader might be interested in this.

    Guitar on demo 5 was a surprise. I'd like to hear the drums pick up a little sooner. The snares sound kind-of funny. I dunno - the guitars and drums just have a very "demo" feel to them to me. The noise let-in at roughly 2:00 is kewl. At about 3:30 it started to remind of Neon Judgement. :)

    I like the intro atmosphere on demo 6 - I could see some spoken words / samples over that in the beginning. This track almost has a downtempo / shoegazer feel to it. Definitely my favorite of the demos you posted to myspace, so far. I may just have to do a remix.

  16. Hey! Thanks fore the feedback. It is about where I thought it would be then. Definitely just demos I was doing for fun, they are very raw and played mostly live. Once I find the right vocals I will push them up to the next notch.

    @Seamus-the WBTBWB was a total joke. I think it is very arrogant marketing to be considered a new breed of anything. I do not see why everything new that comes has to pave some new road to the promised land for the industrial scene. Especially when we are always borrowing so heavily from other genres and styles of music. I wish people would just let it be what it is and what it should amount to. 17. @ Michael - Very true. Not to sound like I'm just sycophantically agreeing with you, but the stuff I posted originally was more just what I'm enjoying at the moment which at least to me feels like a breath of fresh air in the scene, as opposed to Mondkopf, which while I think is okay, just really doesn't feel that 'new' to me. IMHO some of it sounds a bit like VNV circa 1999 sans vocals.
    And I was just calling WBTBWB like I heard them. I kinda thought it was a bit outwith your usual taste :P
    But the thread has got people posting and asking about new electro, which is awesome and makes me happy :)

    I think this is a fair portrait about how the inclusion of trumpets/saxophones and the likes really ruin perfectly good songs. It counts for Grauzone's Eisbar too.

    maybe you guys can have a listen to what I'm making, to go for the whole brutally honest feedback? myspace.com/llumen

    @Llumen - From what I'm hearing, this actually sounds cool. I must say that sometimes the vocals go out of time a little bit, maybe work on it a bit, but other than that there's nice variety between the tracks.

    Especially like Cold In December!
