Got Super Mario Land 3D last week.

I must say, I was really skeptical about the 3ds, since the 3d aspect just seemed like a gimmick to me.

    Boy, was I proven wrong.

In all fairness, the new Mario game does take 3d gaming to a new level... You have to experience it to understand it.

Any other fanboys on this board? :)

yep. i have like 8 games. Mario Kart 7 is great fun. I beat Super Mario 3D Land with 332 Star Coins, and 375 extra lives leftover. Im currently working on Shinobi and that game is pretty damn difficult.

  3. My son loves Mario. Thats all we talk about Mario, Mario, Mario. Its frustrating in a way because I limit him to just some video game time on the weekends but hes nuts about him. One of his grandmoms got him the red 3ds and the new Mario Land and MK7 for it for Xmas so hes going to be going nuts because thats what hes wanted.

I played the old games when i was kid and find myself playing ALL the new ones (And believe me we got EVERYTHING Mario at this point) simply to help my little guy finish stuff.

Im glad nintendo are still doing very well finacially. My wii collects dust, but Id still be cheerfull about the prospect of the big N`s handhold raking in more money. A good company to be sure with an empathasis on innovation and invention.

they really fumbled the ball with the way they launched the 3DS last March. if they keep doing that (especially with the Wii U next year) i dont know how much longer they can do well financially.

Apexxx, how's the Shinobi game? Anything like the old ones?

I really want Mario, it looks lots of fun, but I heard it's a real walkover, way too easy and somewhat short.

Only games I got for it (apart from the old DS games) are the two N64 remakes, and while the 3D effect is really need and works as more than just a gimmick, I don't feel those really show off the system fully, as they aren't originally made for the 3D visuals.
However, I hear the depth perception helps a lot with the platform jumping in the Mario game.

im no Shinobi expert as Ive only played a handful of them, but from reviews Ive read they say it has most commonalities with Shinobi III. As someone who has studied ninjutsu, I see lots of technical errors in the movements of the ninja, but hey Its just a video game so I can overlook those. :P

as for Mario 3D, the first 8 Worlds are sort of a walkover, but the 8 Special Worlds were pretty damn challenging. especially if youre out to collect all star coins. Its really the only 3DS game Ive played so far that plays better with the 3D on.

The thing that sucks with the 3DS tho, is if you accidentally tilt or shift the console while playing, it will throw your view of the 3D off and it can really screw up your concentration often resulting in death, especially with Mario 3D.
