Let us know what you think :)

    ---------

THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT is the female-fronted icy electro counterfoil to Australian composer Pete Crane’s brooding dark electro project SHIV-R.

“Industrial Re-Evolution” is the first new material from THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT since the 2008 album “Identity”, and is an extended EP of 14 tracks – 7 new and 7 remixes from SOMAN, FRACTURED, DYM, STUDIO-X, THE SYNTHETIC DREAM FOUNDATION, CELLMOD and DAVE FOREMAN.

"Industrial Re-Evolution", is so named partly because the work itself has been "evolving" over the past couple of years (both in terms of format and content), and partly because the digital single "Ada Makes The Machines Sing" (DWD144) is about Ada Lovelace - generally recognised as the world's earliest computer programmer, and a key character in Willam Gibson/Bruce Sterling's "steampunk" novel "The Difference Engine" which re-imagines the world as it might be had the Industrial Revolution taken a different course.

Originally formed in 2002, THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT have played extensively in Europe with acts like HOCICO and SNOG, and have previously released 2 albums “Glass”(2005) and “Identity” (2008) and 2 EPs on European labels Black Flames and Advoxya.

Tracks have been featured on numerous well-known compilations such as BLC Productions “Interbreeding” and “F**k The Mainstream” from Vampire Freaks/Alfa Matrix, and previous remixers have included DUNKELWERK, IMPLANT and NEIKKA RPM (Alfa Matrix).

    “Industrial Re-Evolution” features

    - 6 brand new tracks including the download-only single “Ada Makes The Machines Sing”, plus an extended instrumental dub of the single

    - 7 remixes: 3 of the new songs by SOMAN (DWA/Infacted), STUDIO-X (DWA/Alfa Matrix) and DYM (DWA/NoiTekk/Cop International), 2 of tracks from the 2008 album “Identity” by CELLMOD and DAVE FOREMAN, and 2 of the track “Do Not Open” from the 2007 EP “Hypothermia” by THE SYNTHETIC DREAM FOUNDATION and FRACTURED (Dependent)

"Industrial Re-Evolution" will be released worldwide by DWA on April 22nd on CD and digital.

The CD comes in jewelcase, with 6-panel booklet, with art by Vlad McNeally of Kallisti:Design, priced at 1,500JPY.

Pre-order at the special 'Hayawari Discount' rate of 1,350 JPY (10% OFF), inclusive of FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING (worth 400JPY!), is open now.

    8/10 for a 4-track digital single isn't bad ;)

    Ada Lovelace reference?

    You've got my vote.

@Panzerschreck: A lot of the new stuff is considerably more up-tempo than "One Time in Life". Though the original version of "Broken" on the new EP is of a very similar vibe.

@Ornox: my singer Elenor has a picture of Ada Lovelace next to her studio computer and she has been quite an influence for some time :)

Is the 2nd and 3rd song only really 2 mins long? Or is that an extended sample?

    It's a shortened sample! They're about 4-5 mins each.

Coolio. *makes mental note to make megamix and/or put up extended snippet of Broken imminently*

Yeah I can't really picture myself making any more music particularly in line with "One Time in Life" because I'm in a very different space musically (i.e. Shiv-r!). But "Broken" was an unexpectedly downtempo rainy afternoon jam with a Machinedrum and my Andromeda A6 and turned out reminiscent of the older stuff.

  12. sounds good!! i just dont know what it is about that song but i just FUCKING LOVE it, i randomly heard it on like digital gunfire one day. then again bands who have women who sing, i tend to like the slower songs better.
