bioassay is an electronic music project formed in early 2008 by Mauricio A. (aka [dj] ::analogue::) as an aural experiment drawn on the influences of Electro-Industrial and Futurepop music. Joined by Holly J. (aka DJ Engelockt) in early 2009, the project soon incorporated background video montages during live performances as well as live keyboard support and backup vocal contribution by Engelockt.
The project saw its first major exposure with the release of the Das Bunker compilation album 'Brighter Than a Thousand Suns', released in October 2009. bioassay's promising first track 'Silence' was included on disc 1 of the album and has since been played in clubs and radio across the U.S. and internationally. bioassay have appeared at several clubs in and around the Los Angeles area with an appearance in San Francisco, and have plans for more shows in 2012.
The duo released their debut album 'Memoirs of a Broken Heart' in December 2010, with plans for a second album release in early 2012. bioassay are also currently working on an exclusive remix album which will incorporate the talents of artists such as Whiteqube, Gentleman Junkie, Carved Souls, Pixelpussy and others to be announced. The pair have also remixed tracks by Solitary Experiments and Wynardtage as well as some of the aforementioned artists.
Mauricio A. and Holly J. extend their collaboration into other projects and ideas when not working on material for bioassay.
