Last night's Recoil/Architect show was incredible. Add to this that Mr. Wilder did an in-store at Jackpot records here in pdx and it's no wonder that the 200+ people in attendance at the Aladdin were shaking it down to the ground.
PK's flashlight antics were very welcomed, a real pleasure to witness the man in action in his white turtleneck just INTO IT. He and Alan brought the music, this is for certain and the visuals! There were quite a few I had not seen before even owning the box version of Selected. There were mode songs in the mix, specifically Walking in My Shoes and Never Let Me Down Again (aggro mix). Best line of the night came from Alan afterward out back:
"I did the bits of Mode that I liked." And such bits they were.
Such nonchalance, he was a genuinely nice individual and unbelievably humble. I believe the word I'm looking for here is gentleman, what the English would call top drawer. PK went to ground after the show and was not seen again, however, Myer was right down front chatting with the fans. Thank you for signing all my shit (again), even though it was far far less than the last time. Again, those Recoil remixes are bad ass beyond belief. I hope he does do something with PK or Alan even if it's only one track. The chemistry between these three is incredibly potent.
For his bit, Captain Architect drank his mountain dew(?) and rocked right out behind his gear. I liked how he wove the cover of his other Architect albums into his visuals. No display for Lower Lip Interface, however, what gives? There was some serious showmanship going on up there and the crowd was beyond into it. I do believe he was grinning like a mad scientist up there, or was that us. He snuck in cover of Behind the Wheel and there were some loud replies from the audience. Well done all round.
