I must admit I've only recently heard of this project, but I recommend everyone to check it out. It's basically a one-man minimal electro project using vintage synths to produce some really cool songs. A few (live) clips:

Martial Canterel is highly recommended. Some may find the vocal style off-putting, but MC is probably the most consistently impressive modern minimal electro act around (Sleep Museum would be a close second if they didn't add the 30 minute tracks at the end of their eps).

It's a shame that MC occasionally chooses to do business with the terminally inept Chondritic Sound label though.

Martial Canterel plays regularly in NYC. I have been fortunate to see him a few times. He is amazing at his craft. Definitely worth checking out. His show with Wolf Eyes and Absolute Body Control in Brooklyn a few years ago was ace!!!!

Did you get Cruelty Reigns Through Ages 2X cassette? I was worried when I originally ordered it I wouldn't get it. I did though, thankfully. Some people were upset on MW forums because they didn't get theirs.

Cheers to Shapeshifter! Definitely check MC out live if you can.

    Siglo,

I was a little too slow to order the 2x cassette version. As it turned out, it was a moot point anyway, as I never received the 'standard' version of the cassette either, thanks to the utter hopelessness of the guy who runs the label. No refund either. You can only bug an incompetent for so long...

Sorry to hear that........ I think Weird sold the CDr of the tape? Hopefully MC doesn't do anymore releases with CS.

That must have been some show..

Thanks for the tips, I'll check them out.

About MC live, from the clips on youtube it seems there are some professional quality videos up there (thanks to Wierd records mostly), I wonder if they're considering releasing a live DVD in the future..

Cold Cave is another good band in this style, albeit with female vocals.

A lot of the stuff revolving around Wierd Records is great.

I'm addicted to Blacklist on Wierd. The have played with MC before. Great post punk/wave stuff.

I haven't heard much of Cold Cave, but I did see some vinyl I think at my local shoppe. I will check it out.

As Raedarius mentioned Sleep Museum = awesome. Good luck getting their non Bloodlust CD stuff. Most of the stuff extemely limited. The EPs are easily accessible.

Raedarius: do you have "Flower", "Mask" and "Dreams Of Death Underwater.." CDrs?

Shapeshifter....check out the minimal electro thread. Tons of info on music from this realm.

    Siglo,

No, just the Bloodlust material, unfortunately.

Cold Cave is a curious act. The earlier material (collated on 'Cremations') was verging on power electronics in places (not surprising with Dominick Fernow being involved I suppose) but 'Love Comes Close' has a really noticeable New Order feel to it.

WOW !. This is so fucking awesome. \o/
It is just me or this reminds of early Cabaret Voltaire for someone else ?.

When I took a look at the name band, I was expecting it was some Marial Industrial thing I would immediatly say: ARGH !.

    Thank you, shapeshifter.
