  1. Everybody name one band or album, JUST ONE, that you think is dictating a new style for this scene, rather following a tired and overused style - one that more bands should loosely follow in order to create a new trend more interesting than the current 4/4 hellectro.

It doesn't have to be a new band/album, but preferably something that came out within the last decade.

    And it can't be NCC.

  7. Honestly, nothing is a new style. Everything borrows from something through the creative process. Creating a new trend is not the answer. Also playing "follow the leader", is no longer even an option. Sounding like the biggest name in the scene right now will only garner you more downloads, not pan out to more sales. You need a different approach to make an impact.

But in the realm of music that takes many different influences and puts it together to form something unique and thoughtful. I would mention Architect, Interlace, Stendeck, Ad.ver.sary, Empusae, Heimataerde, Synapscape, Imminent, FGFC820, and yes, Suicide Commando-because what Johan does cannot be replicated. At best the other bands make a loose facsimile of his style.

Oh yeah, fuck following directions. :P

How can there be a new Alice In Chains without Layne? I have to hear that, wow. The newest Slayer LP was awesome though. No joke. Those old guys can still kick ass and did not have to get all mopey like most the other bands from that era of metal. \m/(>_<)\m/

  8. You forgot to mention: Brain Leisure,Object & One Eye Wanders (to name a few). They have added new dimensions to their game & taken the OLD SCHOOL sound to the next level!

  9. Oh yeah, there are others as well I forgot, Red+Test, Dead When I Found Her, Acretongue, Urceus Exit. There are plenty of really great bands out there that do not need to stick to club anthems all the time. People around here really do only focus on the negative..

Because the definition of 'the scene' is so ridiculously narrow here, it can't be done.

Given that this is meant (apparently) to be an outsider scene, look to the outskirts of the scene for something interesting rather than focusing on the core. Widen the definition to everything under the umbrella term 'industrial' and there's plenty of interesting stuff going on - such a shame that it is generally better regarded in other 'scenes' than it is here. Here are three:

    The Caretaker / Leyland Kirby

Caul (their latest jazz/dark ambient direction)

  11. I wasn't implying that it could be done, I for one can't think of any, but I don't think it's impossible. Really, I'd just love to hear what people would suggest, providing it COULD be done. The major "problem" that I see is that the stuff people suggest, doesn't work as club music at all, and is often too "difficult" to approach for "the masses" in the scene, and as such could never dictate a new direction in style.
Personally I'd love to hear a more upbeat, club friendly version of what Totakeke and Stendeck are doing, but chances are we'd just end up with a genre that already peaked in the 90's and has nothing to do with electro industrial or ebm.

Right now I'm checking out those of the suggestions that people came up with that I haven't head before, and hoping people will come up with more.

Ah, club music. Our 'scenes' are not the same...

  13. It's not impossible to make good club music that isn't mindless dance oontz.
Think classic FLA or Numb, or Birmingham 6 for that matter.
Also, there's plenty of good mindless dance oontz in the past, like Nitzer Ebb. ;)

Clearly this album is "babylon" by The Peoples Republic of Europe, now out on Vendetta music.

i was hoping to answer this call personally through my own music, though i have no real beef with club industrial as it has it's place and i enjoy some of it. my stuff is a bit synth-pop/dark-electro/industrial:

i also think that tympanik has taken care to release some great IDM flavored industrial-ish music which i'm liking lately

    Thank you very much!

I really love the Brain Leisure album, but I love it because it's really well done old school. I don't think it's breaking any new ground, though.

Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness is a really fresh approach to retro lo-fi industrial/shoegaze, if that makes any sense. Empusae (Hatred of Trees!) Ab Ovo and Stendeck are also doing things no one else is. I really like the sound Disharmony's got going on (especially compared to how over the top most electro-industrial is these days), and Left Spine Down have their own sound down pat.

----yeah..we know..we been doing that here at DSBP FOR A LONG TIME!! bands like ELECTRO SYNTHETIC REBELLION, ANGELS ON ACID, DIVERJE, V1RTUAL D3SCENT, TAU FACTOR, NOISE PROCESS, THE MERCY CAGE, PENAL COLONY, INFRA BLACK, PROYECTO CRISIS......all these bands are not following the "current club oontz oontz formula"...but theres not enough support for these kinda bands who are not following trends or trying to sound like them...
