Dear friends and anyone who cares.
by Leaether Strip Claus Larsen on Friday, 03 June 2011 at 13:55

Due to mainly personal reasons, and the need to start on a new chapter with Leæther Strip I want to inform you all that I am leaving Alfa Matrix on good terms
and no bad feelings what so ever.

As most of you know, Alfa Matrix was the label who brought me back to the scene, and I will always carry that with me, It wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for them.

It's been a good home for Leæther Strip and Klutæ since 2005 and they gave me the freedom to find Myself again after my years away from the music world.

I do not think there is any label out there what would have given me this amount of freedom to do that.

I just simply need a clean slate to carry on. I have as of yet no idea how or where Leæther Strip will be released in the future.

But I will let you know as soon as I know. The back catalogue is of course still on Alfa Matrix.

A Huge thanks to everyone at Alfa Matrix.

I also want to thank all the bands on the Alfa Matrix label for the help with remixes over the years, and I wish you all the success in the world with your music and
    personal life.

I need a fresh start to stay creative.

    Hugs
    Claus Larsen

  5. big kudos to alfa matrix to signing an old classic industrial band, second chances are rare in this world.

    on the flip side,
no kudos to claus for putting out 90% bullshit while on A-M (suicide bombers single was all i could stand). yeah sure i'm clinging to the 90s but it still makes me bitter that the music got so, pardon my french, pussified.

  7. @r3mote: Well, tastes are different but "softer" tracks were also on earlier releases (e.g. Getting Away With Murder: Murders From 1985 - 1995, Leagay Of Hate & Lust, Rebirth Of Agony).

You mentioned "Suicide Bombers". These tracks come up my mind as well (small selection):

I liked some of the newer stuff. Though my favorite recent Leaether Strip issue is "Yes I'm Limited V" CD2 (The Teenage Years).

  9. Part of the Teenage Demo`s has already been released on "Getting Away With Murder: Murders From 1985 - 1995" and I like them too. :-)

Ok Electrohead. We straightened that out :)

I really like the "Teenage Demos". I was very excited to get "Yes I'm Limited V" with all those old tracks.

I do like everything from "Pleasure...." to "Self-Inflicted" , but I am an old punkrock and new wave fan, so those tracks really showed a different side to LS that I really like along most of his later work. It was LS that opened a lot of doors to the more aggressive stuff in the early 90s for me.

Good luck to Mr. Larson with his new chapter post AM.

  13. Wonder if he comes back to wrtiting more quality than quantity then ?

(But :W: did not, too btw.)

  14. I think you cannot really compare :Wumpscut: to Leaether Strip.

Of course Claus Larsen was a huge influence on Rudy concerning his first album ("Music For A Slaughtering Tribe") but that is everything about that.

  15. You can read a short interview about the label issue here:

  16. There is no label issue actually.

AlanTheWild: Last month You gave me an interview about Klutæ and declared that Leæther Strip is signed to Alfa Matrix and You try to find new possibilites only for Klutae. Last week you announced LS departure from Alfa Matrix. What happened?

Claus Larsen: Yes I had no plans on parting ways with Alfa Matrix last month. But after some correspondence between us it became clear that we didn’t agree on how the future would look for Leæther Strip on AM. It was a tough decision for me to take, since I have been really happy working with Seba in the past years. But for me to be creative, I really need all the label stuff to be calm and taken care of. So rather leave now when terms are good between us. I do not want to lose a close friend because of business. Alfa Matrix was a good home for Leæther Strip and will be for the massive back catalogue I have released on AM. They were the ones who brought me back to music and I will always be very thankful for that. It saved my life.

I don't see any bitter in Klaus words but people try to read between lines. In fact, I am sure Klaus will still be working with Alfa Matrix doing remixes or exclusive tracks for compilations.

  20. maybe he just realized he should call it quits. but, speculating on that is, pretty boring.
