Kirlian Camera makes some of the most addicting music that I have ever heard. Like some bands, they were successful altering their sounds without alienating their fans. I have read a lot of reviews and talked to many people and really no one has bad thing to say.

Years ago there was controversy about their politcal views and their associations with other controversial artists like Death In June and a few others. The band basically doesn't speak about their views or politcal affiliations.

Being a long time collector of their works in the 90s onward, I thought the reissues of older material from 80's off "The Ice Curtain" in 1998 was fantastic. It opened another door for me into their earlier days from vinyl releases. As some of you know, Out Of Line just releases a 4CD Box that sold out in no time at all. So many rarities and great tracks revealed to us for the first time and some old faves as well.

    Some releases I really enjoy"

    Eclipse (Das Schwarze Denkmal)CD (Discordia)
Schmerz Box CD & 7" (Discordia)
Obsession CD (Discordia) collaboration with Dirk Ivens, Dive
    The Desert Inside MCD (Triton)
    Unidentified Light CD (Triton)

What are your thoughts on this band? Anyone like cover of "The Final Countdown"? ha!
I would love to see them live one day. I guess they played the Vendetta Fest last year as their only US date. Any reviews?

Below is their profile on discogs

Kirlian Camera are the historical pioneers of the Italian electronic scene. Active since 1977, the band has published its self-titled debut in 1981. The early records contain a mix of synth pop and new wave/dance songs, while towards the end of the 1980s' Kirlian Camera's music has progressively become darker and darker, turning into a monumental electro-gothic sound. Nearly every release since then has explored different fields, from industrial to ambient, from experimental to drum 'n' bass. The mind of Kirlian Camera has always been Angelo Bergamini, other important members have been or still are Simon Balestrazzi (of T.A.C.), Gianluca Becuzzi (of Limbo), Emilia Lo Jacono and Elena Fossi. Kirlian Camera are well-known and respected in the European electronic scene a lot more than in Italy, where they remain mainly unknown. The band has collaborated with the likes of Dive, :Wumpscut:, Death In June, T.A.C., Limbo, and many others.

    current line-up:

Elena Alice Fossi . lead and backing vocals, keyboards, electronics, bass guitar
Angelo Bergamini . keyboards, electronics, vocals

Sarah Crespi . violin, viola, keyboard, guitar, pc
    Falk Pitschk . keyboards, guitar
    Andrea Savelli . keyboard

I see Kirlian Camera as parallel to Die Form in terms of longevity and following their vision without interest in trends. It's positive that both of these acts have their back catalogues somewhat more accessible these days.

My favourite releases by them are Invisible Front, Still Air and The Desert Inside. However, the best thing they have done to date was the album they released as Stalingrad.

To be honest I have mixed feelings towards Kirlian Camera. I have the two disc version of the latest 4 disc box set then downloaded to extra discs via iTunes. I also have a couple of their older material.

I played some of the new stuff to a friend recently and he said it sounded like 80’s soft rock. Listening to it I sort of can see where he is coming from. Personally, I think Die Form are better!

Raedarius you read my mind !!! This is exactly what I was going to say.

Their side projects are also worth mentioning (Stalingrad is awesome).

KC are exceptional. Still Air is my favourite. Absentee (Alamo Mix) is quite unmatched in the atmosphere it evokes (for me, at least).

That's mentally insane! Like all collectables there is a risk... will the item be worth anything in 10 - 30 years time or even gain in value. I'm not sure this will and is highly unlikely to be worth the asking price now.

If they sell them I'll be shocked!

Woh! That price is ridiculous. The seller made a typo mistake, surely. 8O

The legendary Conny Plank died before he could participate in this great project with Angelo. The plans were there. :-(

According to the KC site there are 8 copies, one of which isn't numbered. So which one is it?

Yeah, that is crazy! I remember that guy selling Ionic Vision "Violent Playground" CDr (original) for 15,000 Euros.. haha

Been enjoying "Communicate" , "Edges" and "Blue Room".

Did anyone see them in Denver last year? Did they actually play? Haven't looked for any reviews, but I know some peeps on this board went to the Vendetta Fest.
