There's a new interview with John Foxx over at http://stereoklang.se/blog/?p=11074
where he talks about the new album, inspiring ideas and recording the sound of an empty room!

I'm reading it right now. John Foxx is probably among my 3 favourite artists ever. I consider Metamatic one of the most important and influential electronic albums of all times, much ahead of its time, very "industrial" in some sense, lots of good songs, and his albums with Louis Gordon are also spendid. I really look forward to the new album.

Origami, I agree with you. Metamatic sounds like music made by machines. It is amazing how he created those machine sounds with his gear at that time. His latest output is also great. I love the aesthetics of his artwork, very anti-rock.

Agree. To me, John Foxx is an example. Older than 60, and when you read his interview you see how he understands that software synths and hardware analogical synths are not exclusive, that he values positevely bands like Autechre and their "portable-based music", etc

To me, if I had to illustrate electronic music with the image of a man, it would be John Foxx. His albums with Louis Gordon, which unfortunately or not I discovered only a couple of years ago, are also impressive, the way he sounds classic or retro and modern at the same time. That's not easy at all. The only band that has achived this, to me, in a successful way is The Rorschach Garden, my favourite band of all times.

I'm really really looking forward to listen to John Foxx and the Maths' new album, I think it's not available yet, is it?

I hope so. He's my referent, musically and as a figure. He's just great, such energy, such fidelity to his roots yet never afraid to experiment, both with new and old things. I respect him a lot, even if his post-metamatic pop era wasn't my cup of tea. Do you know the Rorschach Garden, btw?

The Rorschach Garden is one of my faves of the 2000's. I will celebrate the day when I get to see John Foxx live in NYC with TRG. A show for the ages.

I must listen to John Foxx nearly every day. I have been meaning to pick up his collabs with Louis Gordon. Thanks for reminding me.

His collabs with Gordon are really really good, all 4 albums. Don't recommend you to start with 'Pleasure of Electricity', not because it's a bad album (I love it) but maybe it's the less representative of all 4 albums; it sounds almost like a tribute to Kraftwerk to my ears. But they're great, better than what I've heard of John Foxx and the Maths, and I like that project a lot too. (the 3 or 4 songs I've listened to)

That Foxx/Rorschach concert is a hypothesis or is it real? That would be a dream, but I'm a bit too far from NYC (Spain) so I guess I'll have to kill myself if that's true and I won't be able to attend.

When I discovered The Rorschach Garden I discovered that they make EXACTLY the music I'd like to do with my project and am sadly unable to. Recently I interchanged some comments on facebook with Rorschach Garden's Philip Munsch and he asked me to listen to my music. He hasn't said a word since, so I guess he didn't think too high of it hahahaha but anyway.
