DK was a huge influence to me in highschool, and I still really respect all of them despite the legal flame-war they have going on. Jello's vocals can't be matched by anyone, and East Bay Ray did some awesome shit on the guitar (constantly switching between rhythm and lead, and don't forget the siren noise he made on 'Police Truck') I mean...fuck....Jello ran for mayor and came in third! Imagine how different San Francisco would be if he had won back then? The city is known for being far outside the norm, but I imagine it could have strayed even further from the norm if things had played out differently...

Jello did some work not too long ago with the Melvins which was excellent. Sounded almost like some hybrid of LARD with Dead Kennedy's. I hope that long rumored new LARD album actually happens.

Al has been hinting about it here and there for a couple years now. Mentioned it briefly in an interview or two as well. Still no ETA as far as I know though. Maybe someone on here has more insight?

designfemme: Absolutely. Ian is friggin awesome. He's completely about the music, doesn't even sell T-shirts. As for hypocrite, well, he's got a steady girlfriend and a baby now, and it seems a lot of his "The Evens" material is very upbeat/love music, so maybe he's just grown up... ;)
Jairus Khan: Fuck Against Me! Sellouts. It's like the goddamned Ataris. I loved their shit on Kung Fu. They signed to a major and I was thinking "well, this might be interesting.." and they completely threw away the things that made them fun and became a semi-serious emo pop punk band. Ballad after ballad after ballad.. Where's the fun shit? But then again, I actually like what Green Day is doing on their major vs their indie output. I think Ben Weasel had it right when he said Green Day just took the advice of the huge amount of haters out there and said "Fuck it, you don't want us in your scene, we'll go make another scene." and got rich doing it.

This thread reminds me of Maximum Rock n Roll Mag. The good ol days of punk. I remember A Split Second "The Colosseum Crash" with Jello's voice. There were others, but they escape me at the moment.
DK was the best back in the 80's.
