Has anyone seen this movie yet?
One thing to mention is the incredible soundtrack. Even Johnny Marr plays guitar on it.

a friend just posted it's "technically and visually pleasurable, but the story was strained & convoluted. Overall, a good ticket."
looks to me like Dark City 2, which would be great. i'll be catching it early next week.
I just saw it last night and loved it. It is very complicated with tons of exposition. The exposition didn't bore me though; it was all interesting and necessary to understand how the story works.
If you buy the whole dream-within-a-dream scenario and that dreams are as lucid as they appear in the film then the movie really offers a lot. I put aside any philosophy of mind issues I had with the dream logic in order to understand the greater philosophic point of the story.
Ultimately, it seems to be about cerainty within cartesian style epistemology; in other words, it's about the possibility that everything you are experiencing is merely a dream.
I loved that the question remains open ended at the end of the movie. This is definitely a movie that will require some repeated viewing for me to come to conclusion.
Like the Prestige, Memento, and the Dark Knight, this movie really challenges the audience.
I think Dicaprio did a good job. I normally can't stand the guy but he's great here.
And yes, I noticed that the soundtrack was awesome and I definitely want to buy it.
The film looks wonderful as well.
Yeah, this film looks sick. I really want to see it.
Dark City 2 it is definately not.
It does share similarities with Dark City and The Matrix but definately a lot more involved. It felt like an art film with a hollywood blockbuster budget. I loved it, I think a lot of people will be expecting something like The Dark Knight and hate it.
Much like Memento, plot and story isn't the strongest thing about the film.
have wanted to see this for months, am seeing it tomorrow
I liked it, but the story was not really well written and they could have chosen better memorable actors. The visuals where not that great if you compare it to "The cell" or even the Matrix.
visuals on The Cell were a little too clean for me
I am a fan of fx without much computer animation. I was reading that most of the scenes in Inception were a good mix of the two.
was not impressed... I had many microsleeps during the second half of the movie.
Loved it. The weightless/gravity shift fight scene had my jaw drop. My wife cried. We both had a great time watching this movie.
Wait, Dark Knight "challenges the audience", what??
I'm looking forward to this because it's Nolan, and because everyone says it's great. The trailers make it look like a really crappy ordinary action flick, but I trust that I'll be pleasantly surprised. I think it's coming out here this week, so I'll hopefully get to go see it.
Sumez, I thought the same and probably wouldn't have seen it if I didn't know Nolan directed it.
Same with the Matrix when it came out. I thought it was going to be another Johnny Mnemonic before hearing about the buzz.
Loved it. Will be seeing it again this week.
while visually nice, it bored me to death.
To me, its not even close to being in the same league as matrix part 1. I have trouble even comparing the 2, cant see who people see the matrix in this.
This movie was incredibly good. While there truly wasn't an in depth story behind it all, the concept alone was the actual plot of the movie. Stunning visuals, great cast and acting and above all, great directing. Nolan keeps bettering himself from movie to movie. I am not saying that Inception was an all around better movie than Dark Knight, but it was better in other ways.
I can't figure out how people were bored with this movie. With most movies the climax at the end typically last anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, the climax in this movie was the last 45 minutes.
I don't know what movie you all saw that didn't like this. It is by far the best movie of the year if not the last few years.
Oh, and stop comparing the movie with the Matrix. They have nothing in common.
imagine that. people have differing opinions.
his rationalist depiction of a surreal world was not my bag. at all.
I don't think the movie was about a surreal world as much as it was about the Cartesian situation of not being sure if you are in reality or not. I think the the whole logic of dreams is neat but inaccurate and ultimately not really what the movie is about; you have to use that dream logic to get to the heart of the epistemological questions at the core of the movie.
And yes, I think the Dark Knight challenges the audience. Nolan manages to include several philosophic dilemmas in each of his movies, forcing the audience to think. I, as a student of philosophy, definitely appreciate Nolan for putting that kind of thought into his movies.
I don't think the first Matrix was as smart as Inception. The Matrix was a better action movie.
If you grew up in the 1990s and remember the science fiction movies that came out around that era, then Inception is the kind of movie you've been waiting to see for a decade.
I didn't even know anyone even made intense, thought-provoking science fiction films anymore until I saw Inception.
Echoes of M.C. Escher and William Gibson can be found throughout, and the futuristic/cyberpunk elements of the film are pleasantly subtle. This definitely gives the movie a sense of realism rather than going overboard with an elaborate set design. This is also one of the few sci-fi films where the invented technology actually looks pretty believable.
The acting and writing are brilliant, and the soundtrack should win an award. This is definitely the best movie I've seen so far this year.
"One thing to mention is the incredible soundtrack. Even Johnny Marr plays guitar on it."
It's Hans Zimmer, the guy's a master at what he does. And believe it or not his primary synth is a Virus.
