    Always Confused

Stuff like aesthetic perfection (sortof), assemblage 23, swans etc is good.

But I really think everyone else should just give up.
It's all so cliché, and no-one can relate to it.

Stuff like feindflug (for example) is awesome, because they don't have lyrics, they don't need lyrics, and the songs are not suited to lyrics.

Anyway, please prove me wrong, and post some names/vid with good lyrics.

Even old :W: had good lyrics (Turns off Pain, for example, is fantastic)
surely it's not all about "I GOT THAT FEELING, I CANT CONTROLL, DEEP INSIDE, IT TAKES HOLDDDDDD" bullshit....

SC and hocico have good lyrics.
Combi`s fuck machine had a beautifull romantic ballad in place.

That´s the reason why techno is more popular :P ... oh and maybe it´s lack of fruityloops, haha

  7. I put a great deal of thought into my lyrics and vocals Cult-so I take personal offence at your post.

Ok, on a serious note, I do love this song and its sad, touching lyrics (about Three Mile Island, I believe):

I'm sorry, every genre of vocal based music has stupid lyrics. There are literally thousands of stupid songs for every intelligent song. It's not just a feature of this scene.

Sometimes lyrics are so insane that they actually make the song better. Check this out:

  11. soillodge: Agreed. We have some songs that have mundane or simple lyrics about simple things but we also have songs with lyrics about revolution, abortion, vivisection, the political climate in the United States, consumerism, the fate of humanity and a lot of other "important" things. Every song is obviously not going to be a lyrical masterpiece and sometimes all you want to say IS something simple but I wouldn't say ALL industrial lyrics are shit. There are a lot of them from other bands that I really like.

Many artists are making good songs with intelligent lyrics. It's just erroneous to think otherwise. Of course, there is a lot of really bad stuff out there but just anything, you have to get through the crap to find it.

I agree, there are very VERY few bands i can say they actually have good lyrics: Rotersand, Hocico, Punto Omega, Aesthetic Perfection... and... hum.. did i said Hocico?.. well.. i guess thats it.

Dont get me wrong, i think bands like SC or other proyects have decent lyrics, but most of the rest is pure 100% garbage about kill/death/fuck/sex/virus/infection/maschine/krieg/suicide/inside/homicide/lol

How ironic. Because honestly 99% of the topics you start on Side-Line are shit as well...

kill/death/fuck/sex/virus/infection/maschine/krieg/suicide/inside/homicide can be great. The problem is most of the people trying to write them are actually complaining about not being able to get laid or that their mom took away their xbox. Just substituting grandiose 'dark/hardcore/evil' words for impotent whining does not alter the fact most people have very little to say, and more importantly, have not put in the time learning how to write. I suppose learning how to side-chain everything to everything in fruityloops and making sure that their clothing says hardcore rather then raver takes up too much time... The fact of the matter is telling a story, or creating a mood requires a level of skill, talent, and luck as well as a willingness to face personal vulnerability that most people will never master. It also does not help that most industrial and related music is not made in a collaborative setting anymore. Most of the classic acts had one guy who spent most of his time on songwriting, rather then a musician who tosses lyrics in after they are happy with the production. To fix the problem we need an influx of dug addled rock and roll types, let the guys with the laptops and the production chopps do what they are good at, just add some people who get out of the studio a bit and have raging drug problems and some groupie related social infections. Without self absorbed idiots with bad self-image (rather then self esteem)to put their thoughts on the line we end up needing to listen to safe formulaic lyrics that may as well not be there

    Hahahahha, its true.

I`d rather the rivet sorts acted more like Andy Leplauga, gives us someone we can actually relate too.

I don't think the bulk of our lyrics are any worse than the average pop or hip hop TBH...

Not that we shouldn't aim for better of course... but there are acts with greats lyrics and some not in all genres.
