So last week Sony admitted that they were hacked and over 70 million users' personal info was leaked, possibly including bank info.

Today they announce they were hacked AGAIN and more 25 million users' info was stolen.

    Jeezus Sony WTF seriously?

  2. why the fuck isn't such information transferred to a different, internal, and thus immune to outside attacks, network?

not all of your fucking information systems have to be linked

If they're not linked, how do you transfer the information? Does some guy walk it over on a floppy disk?

  10. Actually the 25mil was the first attack- they did not know how serious it was and if any information was stolen until the 2nd attack of 77mil.

"The dataset was stolen on 16 and 17 April, before the PSN break-in, which occurred from 17 to 19 April. Sony said that it had not previously thought that the data was copied by the hackers who broke into its systems." cut from The Guardian

Regardless, they DO need to get their shit together. I am sorry I am such a stickler for facts :P

I do have a PSN account but luckily my bank info is outdated. I haven't bought anything in the PS store in over a year and my card has been lost and replaced since.

It's funny, I work at an IT security company which in it's range of products it provides Data Loss Prevention solutions. I wonder if we should approach Sony with a sales pitch. That'd be cool to have them as customers :P

  15. This is why I always used PSN gift cards as opposed to giving Sony my credit card.

    More info on the attack

    http://consumerist.com/2011/04/hackers-say-they-have-millions-of-playstation-network-credit-card-numbers.html

"Hackers" have been supposedly boasting about having millions of Credit Card numbers stolen from PSN's Database.

Also, apparently the attack was carried out from a hacked PS3 which then infiltrated their servers.
