Cult, I'll explain something that seems to have gone over your head:

Dubstep is a meme. And so is hating dubstep.

Not much else too it. Please stop over-analysing.

And since i was already busy fusing industrial with dancehall i was WAY ahead of the crowd.

    Skinny Puppy sucks.

  6. Dubstep is like Bud Light of electronic music. It sucks, but all the bros like it.

STFU you goddamn commie. Trip-Hop is my homie, you don't fuck with my homies like that and no DJ Shadow and Massive Attack sounds nothing like Skream or Rusko.

    @ metaball

Sshhh... Not so loud or some idiot out there might take you seriously.

How this band escaped me for so long......no idea! Really beautiful trip hop. Anyone have some good recomendations in this arena outside of the typical lamb, portishead, massive attack, sneak pimps, blah blah same bands for 10 years?

  15. Isn´t TripHop Massive Attack/Portishead etc. ? If yes, I like it. I forgot about dubstep absolutly cause I could get into it some years ago. Guess these are quite different genres, same like HipHop to TripHop (first=hate, 2nd=love)

  16. Well checked at youtube some "dubstep" Artists I found at Wiki: Skream+Skrillex. I cannot see what´s cool about it. 1. Boring 2. The sounds are meeehhhh. Same like Drum n´bass nothing for me......in big contrast to Trip Hop, some minimaltek or Ambient (to name non scene genres)

  17. I honestly have yet to hear a Skrillex or Skream track that was boring. I never liked drum & bass prior to Noisia and Black Sun Empire-but then I am told this is not real DnB.

Trip-hop basically peaked with 5 bands. After that it was some other kind of music with trip-hop elements-the same thing that has happened with Dub Step btw. Nothing is pure anymore and it cannot be judged as such.

That Emika album is fucking killer. I do not care what style it is. It is a great album just like all the singles hinted it would be. Massive sound.

Trip Hop was great. Especially the first album of Sneaker Pimps, Massive Attack, Akasha, Morcheeba, Hooverphonic, Soma Sonic, Crustation and all this weirdo Downtempo stuff from the mid-/late-90s.

yeah agree, the Emika album is that good. I use it to argue to people that dubstep is good. Useually people who hate dubstep only know brostep.

  20. It's a losing battle Cult. Even Emika is not dubstep actually. Just tell your friends to only concern themselves with music they like.

If you want to hear dubstep, go find some Benga, Skream, or Kode9 released around 2004-2007. After that it came to the US and became wacked out digitally edited stuff.
