can anyone tell me the differences between these 3 models?

i snagged an Xstation 49 because it has an audio interface. I use it for laptop softsynth controller/converter, it also has an internal soundbank. i believe the Kstation is just a standalone VA. the Xio has NO aftertouch, semiweighted keys or midi out but does have a sequencer & arpeggiator. i think there are some variations in the synth engines in each but i didnt dig too deep into that.
Xio is an audio interface as well. Pretty sure the Xio and X-Station are similar but I think the X-Station has more dedicated knobs & controls.
thanx for your info so far!
I am thinking about welding a synth to a machine gun...so the audio interface part could be handy :-)
The XioSynth and X-Station are hybrid controller/synths. The K station was just a synth. They are all VA, 3 OSC with 2 LFO and multi-mode filters all built on the "liquid sound" pioneered by the Supernova series. The Xiosynth has a special distortion filter. All three are mono-timbral with semi-weighted keys. The Xiosynth has 10 voice polyphony, the X-Station and K-Station are only 8. The X-Station has after-touch capabilities and more controller options that the XioSynth. The both have the rubberised modulation toggle and XY pad, but the X-Station has more knobs in logical configurations and 30mm sliders. Basically from what I have heard, they all three sound the same. Also the K-Station and the X-Station have onboard effects. Also. the XioSynth and X-Station have an XLR input as well as a regular TS jack.

@Michael: thanx a lot for this information...then I will head for either a xio or an X-Station...hopefully the chassis can be removed to replace id with an iron one :-)
well even removing the case for an iron one is not going to help the shock absorption. You are going to have to build something with vibration isolators or you are going to destroy the circuit board.
Unless you mean you are just welding it together for aesthetics and it is not an operable machine-gun. In that case, if you are going to build a new iron chassis I would go for the Xiosynth. It has a simplified control set, where the X-Station has knobs and sliders all over it. Also, if you are going to carry this thing around I would suggest using a repurposed heavy gauge steel ammo-box and welding that to a machine-gun. Steel is stronger and more durable than iron, plus you also already have a box shaped skin to work with.

ehm with an operating one I would never be allowed to cross any border I guess *G*...
besides this...a normal MG gets hot as hell..I think the circuit board would melt before break...
my plan so far is to remove the plastic cover, and give it to some guys who weld me a new one from steel...and then weld this to the gun....hopefully this works :-)
They do sound slightly different. The K is the grittiest, then the Xio, then the X. The Xio filter screams like a mofo though because it has some extra distortion the others don't have. It's also got a few extra waveforms in the rom and an X-gater. Otherwise they are essentially compatable. Afaik all of them will load patches from each other. I'll often port patches from the V-Station into the Xio to use live.
The X also has two inputs/mic preamps and the Xio only has one mic and one line/instrument input. Build quality on the Xio is also lesser than the others. The keyboard isn't anywhere near as nice on the Xio as the X. The headphone amp on the Xio is pretty noisy too.
I had a choice between the Xio and the X and went for the Xio because of the sound being slightly less polite. But for my money the K has the best bite out of all of them. The KS rack is also 4 part and has a special drum mode which allows a single patch to be programmed with various drum sounds mapped to each note.
How polyphonic they are also depends on what you are playing patch wise in much the same way as the Virus. Some patches demand more resources than others.
