As much as I love many variations of electro music, I just can't get into that Australian electro scene with bands like Cut Copy, The Presets, Midnight Juggernauts, etc. Of course, Crystal Castles aren't Australian. The same thing goes for other electro bands like LDC Soundsystem or The Junior Boys. They have a few good songs, but most of it's too dancey. Well, I don't know how to describe it, but these newer electro bands are way more popular than many of the newer bands that are on labels like Metropolis, Dependent, Out of Line, etc.

People like fun simple dancey music.
I really don't mind this trend at all its better then indy rock or Dave Matthews style jam bands. The kids into this style will eventually I hope get into Depeche Mode and Joy Division and then they might end up liking the crap we listen too ;)Posted 1 year ago # -

That's a good point, Giga. I'd rather listen to The Presets over some whiney indie rock band or DMB. DMB's voice and music drive me batty.

could be worse....could always be the new Wumpscut album lol.
Crystal Castles has some enjoyable songs.

i don't think you could compare CC with the australian electro guys. The Aus dudes are just programming synths and drum machines and hoping for the best, whilst CC have a production style like nothing on earth. That doesn't make them better, but it means i wouldn't compare them.
and another thing, why has being called hipster become like blacklisting? You can't openly say you love a band if someone's made that coment, so from then on you say "oh yeah, they're pretty good for a hipster band". The H word doesn't really relate to a genre or anything, it just describes people who are seen as pretentious, and so now days a hipster could listen to Lady Gaga, Grizzly Bear, Lil Wayne, Brokencyde or Vampire Weekend as long as they do so as a means of looking unique (or more often, if an elitist from another scene wants a quick, easy, no-questions-asked way of putting something down).
Ps, I love CC.

Crystal Castles is garbage. From idea to realization. Total waste of time.

i wasn't too impressed with the first release, but the new one (Crystal Castles II) is far superior. i expected to turn it off within three songs and ended up having it on repeat.

Christ I thought this had something to do with a White Castle spinoff. I was gonna say that those burgers come out like water!

Talk about disappointed! I was hoping they would have been good like the old ATARI game was
[+] Embed the video Get the Video Plugin Instead I get this tomfoolery
[+] Embed the video Get the Video Plugin In general, I like this kind of music. However, this band strikes me as a couple of uncoordinated untalented hacks. The vocals are terrible, and the fool that does the music isn't qualified to make 8 bit sequences for 3rd party video game developers in 3rd world countries. Not to mention they steal other artists ideas and call them their own with no shame or qualms about it.

Yeah, Crystal Castles are kinda like The Knife, but with no talent.Posted 1 year ago # -
"Copying others music"...."No talent hacks"....."Industrial music forums"
Crystal Castles should fit right in....now if only they used Ronin Harris's Access Virus but I think Andy is still borrowing it.

I guess that bands need to follow Destroid's most recent declaration on their Silent World EP. On the back of the digipack, it says, "Cybergoth Advisory: Virus Free."

It says: "Vanguard free"

CC is proof positive that the bombs need to start falling and its time to start over.
Either that, or they're proof positive that the atheists are right.
