'Love Don't Live Here Anymore' was a cover when Madonna did it...
Pig's 'Head Like A Hole', Nouvelle Vague's 'Guns Of Brixton' and Siouxsie & The Banshees' 'Dear Prudence' spring to mind.
I am depressed that this forum tolerates Jimmy Nail. Can we rename this an undustrial forum?
Why is Mr. Nail despised so much by Brits? "Intrigued".
Sleepwalk's 'The Hacker'
Orange Sector "I was made for loving you" KISS cover

1) Actors who think they should become singers, in particular those who sing their own theme song (Idris Elba is the latest), are not tolerated on this fair Isle. 'Little Britain' dealt with this well in their sketches about Dennis Waterman.
2) The song 'Crocodile Shoes'.

I wouldn't call this cover "better" but it's definitely, uh, interesting. I've actually seen Kevin Aviance perform this live in a gay nightclub... and was thoroughly depressed that none of the people around me knew this was a Nitzer Ebb cover.

It's a shame this cover was only available to the 111 people who got the 2cd boxset version of Truthead.

peter gabriel is one of my favorite artists of all time so it is difficult for me to say that a cover of one of his songs could be better than the original. but then comes along fever ray who, imo, is the best artist to emerge in the last few years with this fantastic rendition of mercy streets

decoded feedback's cover of "love will save you" - maybe because I don't like the swans, their cover of mentallo's sacrilege is damn near fucking close as well.
i'll probably get shot for this one but larva does an amazing cover of placebo effect's "agony of mind" while i do like the original a lot, this one is just way better (it's helleketro harsh ebm whatever the fuck you wanna call it).

BILE's cover of "Do Ya Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)"
Pantera's cover of "Planet Caravan"
Sepultura's cover of "Orgasmatron" (actually, this is pretty much a tie)
Metallica's cover of MANY songs but esp. "Sabra Cadabra" and "Whiskey in The Jar"
Manson's cover of "Highway To Hell" (not better but worth mentioning; Quiet Riot's cover of the same song is also badass)
Pink did a live cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" that I thought was EXCELLENT
And finally, My Gay Uncle's cover of "Back Dat Ass Up." I don't know why but I love this one. Lol. :0P
